I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

  • I found a loose thingo ... no idea what it was until I pulled out the HDD and found it wasn't seated right ... the thing I had was one of the nipples that holds it in ... and then another one fell out
  • loose cable that appears to be the USB connector for the 2 USB 3.0 ports at the front of the unit
  • fan controller cord that goes straight over the RAM (see first pic)
  • new RAM is much higher than old RAM ... moved the fan cable - had to bend the liquid cooler tubes away from the RAM - you can see them pushing on the left most RAM in the above pic
  • graphics card is at an slight angle to port at back ... the mother board expansion slots don't line up with the outlets in the case.

What case is that again, a Corsair?

And I don't think I've ever seen a port be misaligned with the openings in the back of the case. That's really weird if that's the case...

Corsair Obsidian Series 550D Gaming Case - Black

Yeah - very strange - you can really see how it is out of line in the power unit shot. And moving it down to the next expansion slot won't help either.

bahh - plugged in power, connected mouse, keyboard, monitor ... turn it on ... and ... everything whirs to life but nothing comes up on the screen. Try booting from USB / DVD ... nothing. Guess I will be calling IBP tomorrow night frown.

right - then I would have no one to talk me through what the problem is.

Or I could just trouble shoot it myself ...
  • pulled out the graphics card
  • connected screen to MotherBoard graphics port
  • turned PC on
  • Screen works
  • windows 7 up and running ... now I have to learn were all the usual stuff is hidden

If it's installed in the bottom of the chassis, it's supposed to be "upside down".

The main thing is that the fan needs to blow the air somewhere, and it doesn't make sense to blow it against the bottom of the case. So if the fan is at the bottom of the power supply, then it needs to be installed upside down for that case.
