[Spoilers] Bacchus debuts on RB showing unmatched vision and slick dice-rolling

Cool, sorry, I just couldn't see clearly from the last screenshot.

So, demos: pindicator researched Animal Husbnadry, and then both pindicator and WilliamLP got a tech popped from a hut. Annoying. Even more annoying is that this turn saw a 7000 increase in global power, of which 1000 is due to Rome population growth and 6000 due to techs. That means that either they popped a combination of Wheel+Mining/AH/Hunting or one of them popped archery. Now William has already popped a tech (grr!), which gave him a 2000 rise on turn 5, this could have been hunting and Vikings start with hunting of course, so either could have popped Archery. Ouch.

Can we get a tech please?

In other news, Inca still haven't researched a tech naturally, and they can't go BW, so they are going AH or Polytheism/Meditation. I hope it's the latter.

T15 started and, unsruprisingly, we saw a massive jump of 33000 soldier points in global power -- a whole bunch of people researched Bronze Working. I won't go through the list. Retep continued scouting our lands in a safe manner:

So sadly no experience for the Warrior this turn. What this move did allow, is to move our Warrior NE, so that Retep won't see him, unless he moves back. Next turn we might either stay NE to set up a trap, should he try to scout eastwards, or we might move out forward to his cap. We will also use the war to move into his borders next -- it won't actually reveal any new tiles within Khmer current borders, but will give us better visibility to the north.

Our southern scouts revealed the land of wealth and plenty to our southeast:

Ocean clam?

The food we abandoned by moving north is a cow — so a good thing, as we won't have Hunting for a while and thus no way to improve it. Even better, just look at the coastal spot at the mouth of the river that we freed up by no settling in place: double grassland cow, clam shared with the capital, banana and six forests to chop. Lack of hills is the only issue, but 8 base prod is workable. In fact, at pop 3 we can 4-turn a worker working the cows and the grass mine. We have three spots we have to settle asap — the pig/gems and corn/clam cities which will stake our claim to the floods and whip up armies, and this southern lovely, which can work as a settler/worker pump after we chop a granary into it.

I see space for about 11 cities, with the two cities closest to retep settled first. Of these 11, 4 are first-class, one quite strong, and the others fairly solid. This should keep us going for a while.

So much good land--I wonder how much land there is to the south-east, and if there's another neighbor there to compete with our southern spots?

Could you make a preliminary dotmap (that presumably changes when copper is revealed) so I have a reference point on the cities?

Was retep one of the many people that researched Bronze Working?

Retep still hasn't researched a tech, so he is researching Bronze Working, but it will come later as he only settled on T2.

Dotmap, without fillers, looks something like:

Looks good smile

Hopefully retep can get out of the picture soon, so we can have all of those floodplains--I'm already looking towards the corn/gems city as well (3N1E of 1), but I assume that's retep's first settle--of course, copper's going to change all this in a couple turns smile

Edit: How are we 4th in post count and views of all the PB13 threads? Is it just because we're a team? Or is it because we're a team that actually reports?

I'm pretty sure retep hasn't seen gems yet. In any case, his first settle towards our way should be the plains hill 1E of our scout. In the short term, we are fine in asserting control over the floods as creative, in the medium term -- yeah, there'll be war.

Retep offered peace, I declined. Next turn we need to enter his borders to scout. His scout left our lands and went west, to the bit we left unexplored. If he picks up a hut there, I will be uber-pissed. At least we won't know unless it's a tech.

Lands keep getting better:

I will be so embarassed when we lose this.

Dotmaps is changed, obviously. The first cow city we will plant at the very northern tip of the river, so that it shares the wheat with the capital and has both cows first ring. And then we will do a banana plant, sharing both cows, getting both seafood and gems.
