Things are looking up. Looks like we have a 6 player alliance, with me giving HBR...diplo to follow, but the strike on Dreylin is off. Getting the city south of DD on t80, slaved via DD for 2 pop. Aiming for 9 cities by t85. That's easy, hard part is defensive forces and the sodding workers, but slavery does help out there.
Man, these traits are just sick...just damn, I really need happiness somehow...

So Ruff wants to go through m-h? I'm fine, so long as he doesn't screw up the tech alliance while it is needed. If he does attack and the fraction splits, I'm joining the larger side for sure. I just hope Ruff doesn't make me have to defend 3 fronts.
Quote:5:24 PM Krill: Yo guys
5:25 PM I'l be around for the next 6 hours, until 2300 BST, available to chat whenever you guys are vree
5:26 PM ruff.tad: Krill?
5:27 PM Krill: Hi
ruff.tad: What did you want to chat about?
Krill: Just a couple of things
like tech
ruff.tad: hopefully one of them is directions to meet the others
Krill: yup, can do
5:28 PM ruff.tad: ok tech and directions - anything else?
Krill: I was wondering about you views on the UTA, and the likelyhood of a 6 member counter alliance
5:29 PM ruff.tad: I've emailed the others and I would say that there is general interest in an alliance
there was some comments about this being a borg trick
but your forwarded email snuffed those concerns
Krill: cool
glad that got smothered quickly
I was worried about that hapenin
ruff.tad: at the moment we have 3 in, 2 no commit and yourself
5:30 PM Krill: Well, I'm in if everyone is hapy with that
ruff.tad: one comment that came up was ... "why should we include Krill?"
5:31 PM Krill: I can offer HBR as a largish tech, and I'm happy to use archery, AH, pottery, and writing to smooth over any trades
and basically if you guys don't then I'll have to become a hired killer for either side
because that'll leave me on the outside of two 5 player alliances
zero chance to win, so I'd have to have some fun somehow
ruff.tad: ok, 4 in, 1 no comment and yourself
5:32 PM Krill: but tbh I'd much rather just help out in an alliance
ruff.tad: (I'm chatting to others at the moment)
Krill: cool, np
if they have any questions and you want to act as courier, I'm hapy to answer them
5:33 PM ruff.tad: ok, seems that the group balance is 'Krill included'
we have alphabet, IW, and maths covered, you would bring HBR
Krill: Monarchy would be the biggie tech
5:34 PM (just speaking tactics atm)
ruff.tad: and I have 2 no tech comments to go
Krill: but the simplest way is if the large techs haven't been started
is to just head for hte nerest one and share.
5:35 PM ruff.tad: ok, checking notes and we also have MC and Monarchy in the hopper
so no duplication
Krill: cool
some infomation for you to share
if you don;t know it yet
ruff.tad: wait 1
you said you were happy to balance beakers out with smaller techs
5:36 PM that will prove difficult sometimes so I am going to propose that the alliance attempts to balance beakers but waives them in situations where it isn't possible
or is happy to carry forward IOUs until currency
Krill: oh, I think we misunderstand
I'm happy to ofer more beakers on my part
ruff.tad: we should also agree a beaker / gold exchange rate
Krill: yeah
I'm hpy with that
5:37 PM ruff.tad: ok, tech is done
what is next
Krill: directions?
Who do you need to meet, where do you want to go?
ruff.tad: I am SW of your unit
let me give you directions first - who are you missing?
Krill: Imhotep
ruff.tad: Imhotep is to my NW
Krill: mh
and dsplaisted
ruff.tad: mh / Kodii are to my South
5:38 PM Dsp (not totally sure but ...) is to mh / Kodii's West
Krill: cool
Who do you need?
ruff.tad: you met shady?
Krill: (PS, if you want OB, I'm happy to offer them now)
ruff.tad: I have sunrise outstanding
Krill: yeah, met shady, but on my border
ok
sunrise is...
5:39 PM give you exact distance to his second city, it's the nearest one
5:40 PM 20 tiles west
sorry
20 tiles east
and 9 tiles south east
of the hill my quechua was on when we met
ruff.tad: ok, 20 Right and 9 down - any water in the way?
Krill: just my land
we'll need OB
ruff.tad: and is that from where we met - or from my current warrior?
5:41 PM Krill: where my quechua was when we met
I don;t actually know where your warrior is anymore
ruff.tad: great - I don't keep that information
Krill: ok
ruff.tad: was it 1N of a mountain?
Krill: it was the grassland forest hill 1N of a peak
1W of the corn
ruff.tad: bingo
going to jump in game and mark it
Krill: ok
5:42 PM I'm directly east of there
10 tiles to you reach my culture
5:43 PM ruff.tad: ok - next?
Krill: tbh if you have any scouts to your east they may be closer to sunrise
ruff.tad: no - that warrior is my furthest east unit
Krill: any far to the west?
5:44 PM ruff.tad: yes - but I don't think they are that far
Krill: cool
do we have any eta for the other techs?
I take it you have IW already?
ruff.tad: I already have IW
alphabet in 7
Krill: as rome it would almost be a travesty if you didn't
I'LL HAVE hbr BY THE TIME ALPHA LANDS
damned caps, sorry
ruff.tad: ok
5:45 PM not sure on the others
Krill: just wondering, what is the remaining tech
5:46 PM also, a small worry on my part
the UTA is planing on trading by t80
they could be plnning to land the oracle the turn after
and getting something big
ie fuedalism
construction
somehing dangerous
5:47 PM I don't have any visibility of their cities except sunrises
ruff.tad: techs are:
IW, Maths, Monarch, HBR, MC and alphabet
that is 6
Krill: cool.
just need to get contact now
ruff.tad: right
5:48 PM Krill: we do have m-h...
ruff.tad: I've marked directions to SR in game - send warrior Nth of contact point - arg
yes
haven't got the nod from Dsp yet - but expect to
5:49 PM Krill: that is awesome
thank you
ruff.tad: do you feel like bacon being pulled out of the fire?
Krill: pretty much
5:50 PM I wonder how you al feel after realising what diplomacy had hapened behind your back though
5:52 PM ruff.tad: ok as long as it was only after in-game contact
Krill: er...
yeah
ruff.tad: would feel pissed if it was pre-
Krill: there were doing what we seem to be doing
messages relayed between players as required
ruff.tad: but would be hard to arrange that as they didn't know who was close by
Krill: at least, according to a chat with regoarrarr
ruff.tad: who started it?
Krill: I don't know for sure
ruff.tad: because it is a neat idea
5:53 PM how solid is it?
Krill: oh, relaying messages, or the 5 player alliance, the UTA?
ruff.tad: the UTA
Krill: I have no idea
but they decided together on the tech trades.
5:54 PM I'd say it's pretty strong.
simply because there are no border issues
ruff.tad: well - I think we lucked out more than anything
Krill: and for each tech they research they get 4
ruff.tad: in that our techs aren't duplicated
Krill: yeah
that was insanely lucky
ruff.tad: nawwwwwwww ... skill!
Krill: haha
ruff.tad: anything else?
Krill: only reason I carried on with HBR was that no one would bother researching it
hmmm
5:55 PM not really.
ruff.tad: you ok with me forwarding this chat to the others?
Krill: I think if we are neighbours some rough borders between us.
yeah, sure
no problem with that
5:56 PM ruff.tad: oh - and I forgot the following ... should have been my very first words ...
We are the Borg. Resistance is futile. Your culture will adapt to service ours. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.
Krill: I think you sent them
yeah, you sent them
5:57 PM ruff.tad: Thinking is irrelevant
I just re-watched the TNG eps with the battle at Wolf 359 and I Borg
so I am up on the lingo!
Krill: to each their own
I prefer the Dominion personally
5:58 PM ruff.tad: the balance is a chat between Ruff and Krill (shapeshifter!!!) and will not be forwarded to the group
are you interested in any backstabbing?
Krill: Depends
ruff.tad: on what?
5:59 PM Krill: So long as the UTA is still functioning, and all 5 players are working together...
I don't realy want to see 2 players drop out in our little enclave
ruff.tad: ok ... assume it breaks down - what then
Krill: afterwards though
definately
someone has to die
we all ned land
ruff.tad: well - I have my eye on mh / kodii land
and I would hate to see them get HBR
6:00 PM as that would open up phants as a counter to my preats
Krill: You know when the UTA is likely to get to elephants?
ruff.tad: no
Krill: by guess is around t100
*my
Lib should fall around t130
6:01 PM ruff.tad: I don't care when they get phants
Krill: thing is we need to be matching them
ruff.tad: if the UTA has fractured and we haven't pulled off our big trade
then I would like you NOT to send HBR to mh / kodii
Krill: IF the UTA isn;t a threat by then, ok.
6:02 PM but tbh, and I'm telling you this out of courtesy, I don't see that happening, so you are probably much better focussing on expanding instead of trying to kill someone
ruff.tad: how big is the lake SE of our meeting point?
Krill: I haven't found the southern edge
ruff.tad: so - big?
Krill: I think it goes to the equator
6:03 PM ruff.tad: ok
Krill: possibly further
ruff.tad: I will not be looking to settle NE of our meeting spot
so feel free to grab it
Krill: thanks
I'm not sure we have any settling plans yet
6:04 PM or over there, anyway
ruff.tad: and don't worry about me - I will be expanding
just growing back some pop so I can whip it at the moment
6:05 PM ok - I am done
will forward top of this chat to others and send you a copy of my email to them too
hurry up and meet the others so that we can all chat
6:06 PM Krill: sorry, had to kill a wasp
cool
will do

Earlier chat with Shadyforce, trying to warn him about the Oracle falling and the UTA slinging something large, and some general strategy.
Quote:3:27 PM [/color]Krill: Yo Shady, got a moment?
Shadyforce:: hi, what's up?
3:28 PM Krill: was just looking at the RB game
and was wondering about the Oracle
looks like the UTA will be at alpha in less than 10 turns
and I was thinking they would try to oracle something big
I was just wondering if you knew of anyone building the oracle.
3:29 PM Shadyforce:: it's been a quiet weekend, no emails among the non-UTA members, I've jiust sent a poke message to them
I don't know of anyone building the oracle
rego's mfg and power are spiking
3:30 PM and ZPV's is not
Krill: I have regoarrarrs, sunrises, and Dreylins graphs
but no one elses
3:32 PM Shadyforce:: I have alpha in 7 turns...but I'm running max commerce to do so
maybe I should slow it down and build some more units...
what do you think?
Krill: Depends, you have horses, right?
Shadyforce:: yeah
3:33 PM Krill: hmmm
immortals are useful
but when you get alpha I'll give you HBR so you can get HA
3:34 PM Shadyforce:: need a few spears and axes too
Krill: can you get copper off anyone?
Shadyforce:: since rego and zpv will have plenty of spears of their own
3:35 PM yea, dsp loaned me copper
Krill: cool
well, this is what I'd suggest
grow asap now
tech as fast as you can
and get alpha
trade for HBR, IW
and then slave out what you need
3:36 PM Shadyforce:: to bother with barracks or not?
Krill: hmmm
do you have any cities that you can leave at the happy cap, working hills and not growing?
3:37 PM Shadyforce:: yep
Krill: OK
getting 1 city with a barracks is fine
so ong as it is then on constant unit builds
which seems like a decent precaution in your situation
3:38 PM Shadyforce:: my capital has loads of hills and ivory and fish
Krill: that is your production city then.
It's the same for us as well actually
3:39 PM your other cities need granaries chopped
grow up to size 4
double slave back to size 2 and then regrow
they can grow back on cotages
so you can still tech
Shadyforce:: hehe, all 3 other cities are on granaries atm
Krill: col
*cool
Shadyforce:: this is good... it means I know how to play a little
3:40 PM Krill: I see you have 4 cities...
3:41 PM just wondering, but how many workers?
Shadyforce:: 3
Krill: need atlest 6, really
Shadyforce:: yeah... but no one is working unimproved tiles yet
so I'm doing ok... couple of seafood
3:42 PM Krill: lots of forest?
Shadyforce:: lots
Krill: that's where the workers come in
choppy chop chop
Shadyforce:: yes def need a few more workers
where to squeeze them in though
should have picked expansive leader
3:43 PM Krill: Yeah, Expansive just helps
you really need 2 workers really early to start chopping out more workers
3:46 PM just wondering, but do you know where the dsplaisted and mh scouts are?
And would you be willing to help facilitate contact between us?
Shadyforce:: no... shit I knew I forgot something, I'll email them now
3:47 PM Krill: cool
thanks for this
3:51 PM Shadyforce:: I'm not in the best position to coordinate because most likely you will be meeting them in the Ruff/MH/Broker area of the map and I have not revealed anything there at all
but I'll give it a shot
3:52 PM Krill: Well
Shadyforce:: where abouts are your scouting units?
you have one near Ruff?
Krill: 222333 of regoarrarrs capital
and one that is
well
3:53 PM about a third of the world east of that
the one next to regoarrarr is woody 2
other one is 3/5 woody 1
3:56 PM Shadyforce:: so you have a warrior 3 south and 3 south-east of Cincinnati?
Krill: oh damn, sorry
I'm an idiot
888999
3 N, 3NE
3:57 PM Shadyforce:: damn, that's a mile away!
Krill: huge map
and that quechua has been in a war
Shadyforce:: dsp is on your latitude but near the bottom edge of the map
I'll ask if he has a scout in the area
3:58 PM * on your longitute
Krill: ah ok
Shadyforce:: as in the longitude of your warrior near cincinnati
4:00 PM Krill: do you know where Imohotep is?
4:01 PM Shadyforce:: east / north/east if India... you're probably not that far awayfrom him
Krill: cool
the interesting decision is which unit I send south
Shadyforce:: don't know where his culture is, only vague directions
Krill: vague directions are ok
4:02 PM just need to plan on unit moves
I also have a quechua heading south past dreylin
I don't expect it to live long though
4:03 PM I fully expected the UTA to kill my scouts once they decide to start full scale hostilities
4:04 PM Shadyforce:: have you met broker?
Krill: yeah
Met people in this order
4:05 PM Dreylin/sunrise/broker/regoarrarr/ruff/you
Shadyforce:: MH should be south-west of Team Lin
somewhere
Krill: thanks
4:06 PM I'll probabyl end up meeting them last then
send the woody 2 quechua south
and try to use the slowmoving one to meet imhotep up north
or try to send out a chariot...hmmm, decisions, decisions...
4:08 PM Shadyforce:: frankly, I have no idea how you have so many cities, workers and units out
Krill: Here is a little snippet of info
I had 3 workers before the first settler
4:09 PM and chopped 17 forests so far all game
Shadyforce:: oh yeah, imp/exp... ok so you had a bit of an advantage
I haven't done enough chopping, but I guess I can use those chops on an army... I'll have maths soon enough now too
4:10 PM btw, in general do you go worker first, or warrior first, switch to worker on size 2 and whip?
4:11 PM Krill: depends on food situation
and exp or not
seafood with or without fishing
generally worker or work boat first is always the fastest or growth
but you do lose out on scouting

Email from Lins. We have a quechua around his capital scouting out a route to him, and he stumbled upon us with a vulture (heading for DD via the barb city).
Kalin Wrote:Hi Gentlemen,
I have noticed you have a quechua close to our borders. In the light
of the incident with sunrise earlier in the game, I feel uncomfortable
about having it so close. So uncomfortable that if it moves further
south I will attack and destroy it. I would therefore appreciate if
you moved it back N.
Kalin
The reply. Aiming to extract the micheal and warn him off a wasteful attack on us (now that we aren't attacking him, we'll have defensive trooops, but I don't want to have to use them...) The NAP is just there to give him a headache.
Krill Wrote:Well hello, first time we have heard from you in a long time. And with threatening letters, too.
We find it quite amusing that after deciding to stay away from your borders, to not threaten any workers you had, you stumble upon us with a vulture, and you feel threatened.
Well, let us allay your fears, with an offer of an NAP until t90. You can try to attack us with vultures if you want. Sufficed to say you will not be getting a threatening letter if we see those on our borders. We'll just smash them.
Krill
For the spectators. We're going to head NE and go around what Shady force tells me is a lake.

And a reply from Ruf in email form:
ruff Wrote:just circulated this ...
Just had a chat with Krill (see attached).
Here is the summary ...
Summary ...
Ruff - in, can contribute IW (I already have it <grin>)
Imhotep - in (Monarchy)
Shady - in (alphabet in 7)
mh - Kodii - Maths
Dsplaisted - Metal Casting
Krill - HBR
I also said that we would try to balance beakers but we would either issue IOUs or just waive any close balance in the interest of getting the trades going. We should also discuss a gold / beaker exchange rate.
The other option is that we agree to trade techs regardless of the beaker value and form a Tech Alliance in the true sense of the word.
Ruff
So, scouting decisions...will be up later, along with a semi decent domestic report.
OK, scrap that, full domestic report, probably with some MM. Kinda feel like doing some for once. Will probably take a couple of hours though...

Welcome to the T71 Domestic Report, featuring all 5 curent cities, and the next 4 city locations in the Winnepeg Hedgemony.
So, above you heard about the diplomacy. There is always the possibility of the backstab, but if they do backstab and try to leave me out in the cold, I just play one side off against the other.
So, onwards:
Arcturus Alpha
http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417.../t71AA.jpg
The capital, with terrace already, so slavery could be useful here, but is
Just about capable of 3 turn HA, with a little overflow. Production city, once monarchy lands it'll grow to size 10 (2 extra units) and hit 25 hpt. Probably onto a HA, then settler.
Beta Beach
http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417.../t71BB.jpg
Crappy city #1, but it is size 5. Probably going to grow it to size 6, then slave out a library, so it can begin work on a GS. Provisional aim is to lightbulb philo and go for a shrine. OK city, sharing the cow with CC atm.
Club Canadian
http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417.../t71CC.jpg
Cottage central, soon to be slaved down into a settler. Will also get the cows full time shortly.
Demon Dirt
http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417.../t71DD.jpg
Border city, grows to size 4 on turn 76, turn 77 build a settler, turn 78 slave, turn 79 settle for EE.
Fatuous Flab
http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417.../t71FF.jpg
Horse city, gets the terrace and then a HA via chops, probably slaves out a settler afterwards around t85.
Future cities
EE
http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417.../t71EE.jpg
The evil little city, gives me a single city front and forces Dreylin and sunrise to not use alot of that land if they want to have defensible cities against me. Also gives me a second sources of horses, and is quite cottagable. The corn will be shared between DD and EE as required.
MM, GG, HH
http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417...71west.jpg
Moia city, and two other cities with marginal land. I'm considering moving HH 2N, so it has 2 inland lakes as food and 7 grasslands to use...yeah, that's what'll happen.
Moia city is going to slave and get as much overflow into moia as possible I'm reckoning, probably by slaving chariots. Unfortunately Moia is 250 hammers without stone, and I only have 120 hammers in chops, so unless I find stone somewhere it might take awhile...get stone though and I'll be built in no time, and that'll be a solid little city.
GG is just another, bland cottage city, 2 flood plains, plains cow, crabs. One of my more powerful cities, actually...
Demographics
MFG http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417...t71GNP.jpg
GNP http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417...t71GNP.jpg
Crop Yield http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417...t71GNP.jpg
Power http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417...1power.jpg
Demos http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417...71demo.jpg
So, highest crop yield and MFG, and GNP figures aren't exactly bad at breakeven. Wonder what'll happen with another 10 cottages up and another 4 cities?

New chat with Shadyforce, trying to coordinate a meeting between me and mh/Kodii.
Quote:Shadyforce: you there?
Krill: yup
just writing an update fr the forum
Shadyforce: MH/Kodii has a unit that has "just arrived at the land of Team Lin from the southwest". Would you like me to give him directions to meet your dude?
Krill: well I'm 13 tiles north of Dreylins capital
I actually have a unit in the area
unfortunately
I don;t have OB
and Dreylin won't give it to me
not that I've asked, but why help an enemy?
best bet for mh/kodii is to ask for OB and travel through the land
Actually I jus got a snarky email from Kalin
telling me not to explore any further south
Shadyforce: haha
Krill: upon pain of death for that quechua
Shadyforce: is Land of Lin well defended?
could a quecha do some damage, pillaging, etc?
just since they were so snarky?
Krill: he has a vulture next to my quechua
Shadyforce: ok, that's a bit of a mismatch alright
Krill: Yeah
and not like I have any chariot right there
Shadyforce: ok, so I'll tell MH/Kodii to head through Lin territory and head to the north?
Krill: you could tell them thaat is the best way
if they can't though, they can head west
I'll head west a bit from dreylin then head south
we just need a land mark so we can triangulate our positions
Shadyforce: Ruff might know the area better
I haven't revealed anything there
Krill: I talked with ruff
I met his east most unit
it's no where near the Lins
about 20 tiles away
Sent at 7:22 PM on Sunday
Shadyforce: ok, sent an email to them... will see if they have open borders
Krill: thanks
do you know where Dreylins capital is?
the queschue I have it just to hte NE
Shadyforce: no idea
Krill: and it appears as if there is water there
not sure if it is a lake or not
hmmm
how did your scout reach me?
via sunrise?
Shadyforce: hang on a se, let me login to the game
Krill: cool
just a fyi
but dreylins capital is 4 tiles SW and 7 tiles W of sunrises second city
if you know where that is
Sent at 7:26 PM on Sunday
Shadyforce: the water body just south-east of Hun, the barbarian city, is a lake
Krill: yeah
thanks
so it's a lake
I'll send the quechua south just to the east of that.
Sent at 7:28 PM on Sunday
Shadyforce: just carthage down there, it's a long way to my land, and ssp is even further
Krill: wow
not actualy met ZPV yet
and I just wanted to map out the land
Shadyforce: there's another similarly sized lake just south of the Hun lake
Krill: I've not actually passed the equatr yet with any units
haha
his has to be lakes map...
pretty nice, even if my land is pretty bad
Shadyforce: ok, meet MH to the west of Lin's territory since MH rejected OB with Lin
Krill: cool
do you know how wide the lake is?
the really sick thing to do, and this is actually against the rules
*is not, sorry
Shadyforce: 2 or 3 tiles
Krill: thanks
would be for me to make a worldbuilder game of what I can see
pass it to you
you add in what you can see of hte map
pass it along
we'd probably have a decent worldmap between all 3-4 of us
Shadyforce: hehe
Krill: OK
I reckon I'll be to the tile 7SE of Hun in about 10 turns
or around there
Shadyforce: around 14 tiles south of Hun is cultural borders of a Lin city... I've seen it because my exploring workboat is actually in a very long narrow inlet
Krill: ok
so that is another Lin city
Shadyforce: it's not on the coast that I can see... I can't even see if it's popped borders yet or not
Krill: sorry, misclick on the scores
Shadyforce:

So, need to keep that quechua around for a bit, and hope nobody whacks it...something which I'd be a little pessimistic about tbh.

More from Shadyforce.
Quote:8:34 PM Krill: Hey Shad, got a minute?
8:35 PM Shadyforce: what's up?
Krill: I was wondering about what to tech after HBR
I'll finish teching and go max tax on t74
8:36 PM Shadyforce: good question
8:37 PM we'll have IW, MC, HBR, Maths, Alpha, Monarchy...
Krill: he next 6 techs that would be useful
Calendar, Construction, Currency, CoL,
8:38 PM then Fued, Machinery
if we kept to 1 tech per civ
which obviousl isn;t balanced
Shadyforce: problem is, some people will be better teching than others
8:39 PM maybe it would be better to have people designated on the more expensive techs, and the others doing the grunt work militarily
Krill: It's an FFA
that ain't gonna fly
mainly because who wants to be stuck fighting while others build?
Shadyforce: yeah I guess
8:40 PM Krill: there is 1 way around it...
which is gold
Shadyforce: that would work, but we can't do that until currency
Krill: teams gift gold every turn to keep dedicated researchers teching
well...
8:41 PM I could tech it...
after we trade
only needs alpha
Shadyforce: don't you need Maths first?
Krill: nope
maths is actually useful to have
speeds up research
8:43 PM something to consider
Shadyforce: ah I see,Alpha leads to currency too
I rarely do currency without maths
I wonder what kind of eta's the other dudes have on their techs
Krill: Something we need to figure out
8:44 PM Shadyforce: I've asked in an email
Krill: I could feasibly get maths, if that hasn't been started yet
Shadyforce: what turn is it now?
Krill: t71
8:45 PM Shadyforce: it's possible I can get alpha on T67 if I really break my balls to do it
*77
8:46 PM Krill: nah, don't push too hard
you don;t want to damage your civ
growth is important
8:47 PM when are you schedualed to get it, though?
t79?
Shadyforce: T78 at manageable defecit
Krill: that's ok
that's definately fast enough
8:48 PM Shadyforce: that's working commerce tiles at the expense of hammers (not food)
Krill: I thikn that works best for you
because then you can start slaving out HA if need be
whereas pushig too hard, and you can't can't as large an army afterwards
8:49 PM Shadyforce: I don't think tech is my bottleneck
esp if I'm going for a barracks or too first
I have granaries to finish and a few workers to build before I really start military
Krill: Solid
8:50 PM So, ruff is giving IW...
me HBR, you alphabet
8:51 PM and we can only research CoL for you and ruff, Currency for me...
really need maths
for calendar hapy
and construction for WE
Shadyforce: I think mh/kodii is on maths
8:52 PM need to find out their eta, maths is v important, the technology bottleneck
Krill: yeah
8:56 PM Shadyforce: how fast could you get maths by?
Krill: I don't actually know for sure
but
at curent breakeven pace
not taking into account anyone knowing it
t85?
8:57 PM Shadyforce: you have writing already?
Krill: 1 turn away...
I foolishly teched that instead of HBR first
I changed it once I found out about the UTA
Shadyforce: your teching rather well for a bloated empire filled with quechas
8:58 PM Krill: pop is power
8:59 PM tbh I'd rather not tech maths
9:00 PM I just can if I have to
and if I can get to maths before mh
Shadyforce: we'll see what kind of bottleneck we have
Krill: I'd suggest that they don't research writing but save gold
gift them writing
and they can get maths quicker
9:01 PM that has to help everbody
17 minutes
9:18 PM Krill: thanks for hte forwarded message
thinking about it
about to go eat so afk
Shadyforce: chat to you in a while
16 minutes
9:35 PM Krill: atfer reading the email...I think "our" estimate on the oracle is still a while off
ie after t75
but before t80
9:36 PM tbh I would just say that shortcircuiting a fued sling would be worth it
9:37 PM So I'd ask mh if they could speed up the build and get CoL asap
9:38 PM also between the 6 of us that would be the only religion
Shadyforce: Oracle on T78, needs Alpha from me on T76 and Monarchy from Imho on T77 to get Feudalism, and he says T78 is his best time
Krill: nah
hhmmm
actually
for you longbows would slaughter numids
9:39 PM well
tbh it doesn't really concern me
Shadyforce: I'd be safe enough
Krill: ie I have nothing to do with it
9:40 PM then if you don;t want to get alpha that quick, CoL makes the most sense
and if t78 is the turn he gets it, then so be it
Shadyforce: also depends on Imho, we don't know his ETA
Krill: if it falls beforehand, nothing we can really do about it
9:41 PM Shadyforce: well, maybe we can arrange feud, maybe not, but I agree he should build poracle asap regardless
9:42 PM Krill: yeah, that's about it
I'd have to see what I could consider offering for fued
but that's a personal problem
I just agree that oracle asap
is the way to go
9 minutes
9:51 PM Shadyforce: lol,I was chatting to Kalin yesterday who was talking about your worker steal
9:52 PM he said how he'd be taking sunrise's side and may consider a double teamlater on, etc
stuff you knew already
but I got the impression he was trying to "poison my mind" towards you
and I'm talking to broker now who is doing the exact same thing
9:53 PM I wonder are they trying to stop people allying with you or something
I'm playing along naturally
Krill: cool
9:54 PM If the worker steal had been completely unwarranted, they're strategy would make so much sense. But when you know the full situation...
this should be fun to document for hte spectators
9:55 PM Shadyforce: I bet they're loving this game
two big rival factions, scheming and plotting
Krill: They might be wanting a little more war though
oh well
Shadyforce: yeah true
9:56 PM Krill: that'll happen at some point
Shadyforce: it's surely inevitable

I think Dreylin might want to talk with Kalin shortly, and explain why being stupid and sacrificing your own game for a stupid reason isn't wise against me nor Memphus.
Quote:11:33 PM Kalin: hey you there?
11:34 PM Krill: yeah, for a bit
Kalin: cool
I was about to send you email
but chat would be better
if you have a minute
Krill: sure
I'll be around for a few minutes
Kalin: I considered your propoal
and while I would like to consult with Dreylin
it's unlikely that he'll respond in time
11:36 PM I therefore would like to give you a counter proposal for the NAP
I noticed that you already built a city at the choke point that is a natural border between our lands
good job, you moved fast!
my proposal therefore is:
11:37 PM NAP until T100 on condition that you don't settle any cities south of that city at the choke point
Krill: no chance
Kalin: okay that was that then
11:38 PM Krill: The counter counter offer would be that I settle 1 city south of that, 1 tile north of the cows
and no further south
Kalin: no
Krill: good luck trying to stop me then
Kalin: thanks for the wish
11:39 PM seriously, that's not acceptable
Krill: ?
I settle 1 city 3 tiles further south?
Kalin: you settling S of the choke point
11:40 PM Krill: that city is 6 tiles from my cap
which is the distance between hun and you
Kalin: let me look at the map
11:43 PM so you want to settle a city 1NW of the cows?
Krill: 1N
11:44 PM Kalin: ok that's a no
Krill: why, you want the horse?
Kalin: yes
Krill: shrug we'd trade you the horse for something reasonable
Kalin: you already have 1 source
11:45 PM Krill: and we can easily stop you hooking up that source
and instead we are offering to trade it to you for something reasonable
resource?
Kalin: I don't buy that...
need to go right now...
Krill: you have our graphs
I sugest you look at them
11:46 PM and then think if you can fight a war against us 1v1
Kalin: we can die trying
Krill: you might want to ask Dreylin about Kaz versus SANCTA
Kalin: I don't know about that
Krill: that's why I said ask him
Kalin: but as I said, we can die trying
11:47 PM I really need to go, sorry
Krill: cya
when do you get back?
11:48 PM oh and message from Memphus
he is asking if you are on drugs
All I can say is wow. Those horses are 12 tiles away from his capital, and 9 from mine; I have roads almost the entire way there, and he has no expansion north. I have 5 cities to his 3, the highest MFG and the highest crop yield. He has zero chance of ever getting those horses unless either I agree to it, or he gets a proper army up there, war elephants and all.
He has vultures, and hence the possibility for making spears, but the numbers game doesn't favour him, especially as it takes his a good long while to get them there. But I shold have IW in less than 10 turns, and I cna easily have 4 workers, settler, archer and chariot ready to run towards it.
He would be wiser trying to build up IMO, then smash and grab the horses. A good question, though, would be if he has any other horses...if not, Sullla might have something to answer for.
Damnit, he really is trying to paint a target on himself without having much to back him up though. Vultures and Spears just aren't going to cut it. Nor are longbows, really. Looks like you guys really are in for some fireworks after all.
