From casual to careless; just made a horrendous misclick that will cost me a bunch. Instead of landing a Settler on the Stone to found next turn, I landed it back next to Weed!? Costs me 3t on settling the city and knock-on delay on getting the next Settler transported to the island.
It's a pretty large hit for a stupid mistake, so I think I will see if a reload can be done before anyone else plays.

An update is owed.
So I've been pootling along at the bottom of the scoreboard - second only to BRick, who according to CivStats is being eaten by BGN - principally I think because I've been whipping the <expletive> out of my civ to keep up in expansion. I have just planted my 8th city, which is tied for most amongst the civs I've met with Jowy. Jowy, incase we have all forgotten is Joao.
My pop is also low because my happy cap sucks due to only the Whales as a happy resource. Hence the reach for El Chupacabra as well as the Iron Working research path. A few turns ago I completed Alphabet and now have Open Borders signed with Mr. Cairo and both Adrien & Jowy (not playing sides and also wanting to explore their lands nearby). Probably helps them financially as much if not more than me, but right now I do need to help me!
My military is pretty thin; I've been surviving on Archers and Chariots, which really made me cheer the second Barb Spear to arrive. I'm about to hook up Copper though, as I want the Mine on the one NW of the Cap for the Pigs city.
Anyway, here's the land overview from North to South as observed by the intrepid SS Miss Click:
Looking at this I'm reviewing my options as regards where to found on the Island - or even whether to found there next. With OB, I'm getting routes from abroad anyway so that benefit is limited. Also, founding on the "x" spot creates a useless city for 10t until the borders pop. I'm wondering about sending to the Rice spot - which pops borders in 10t to cover the Gems and Pigs in time for IW (but is also, frankly a bit useless until then. Best location may actually be the Western Gems location sharing the Pigs with Dope. Needs some thought.
Or, maybe the Clam island - that way when I do settle the Fish Island I can immediately borrow the Clams.
AT has the Great Lighthouse BTW, so no opening borders with him right now....

Heh, I post this and then both Jowy & Ichabod plant (or capture) 2 cities on the following turn!
Oh, and Mr. Cairo seems to be taking a chunk out of Adrien, so probably I can concentrate on REXing in peace.
Think I've almost decided to grab the eastern island with the Clams and the next Settler will take one of the Gems sites.

Monsterhunter update!
6 Monsters in borders.
Here's how the neighbourhood shapes up:
Doesn't look like I'm going to get anything across the large lake (except by force); I might grab another crumple zone city towards Adrien though, and should pick up a couple more islands in addition to "my land".
Mr. Cairo is on a separate continent, so I get 3c routes from him. AT is paying me 5gpt for routes, but I'll up that on renewal. I just canceled on Adrien and Jowy looking for some gpt, but forgot to check they had Currency first! My Scout had just finished mapping Adrien and was about to go into Jowy and now he's trapped between Jowy just showed Currency though, so maybe I can get him to renew for a few gpt...
Mediocre Demos:
But lots of potential!

Maybe some more commentary tomorrow when I have some more time.

Which one am I missing? I see Manatee, Duneyer, Troll, Nessie, and El Chupacabra but not a 6th.

Hmmmm, you seem to be right. I could have sworn it was 6!

Turns out I was also wrong about this neighbourhood:
Crowded! :Hammer
Gawdzak moved a Worker NW of Clams and so saw my WC scouting from the island, so I expect he's whipped an extra defender into his city. Not that I would have razed it just because....

Hmmm, I've been very remiss about updating this thread, but now that PB33 has moved towards a turn every 2 days, I might have a bit more time to update here.
I'm heading on vacation in 2wks time, with all the unpredictable play windows and potential access issues that entails, so if you're still around and unspoiled Aurorarcher, would you be able to cover if I have problems getting in?
Anyway, I'll try to bring the thread up to date over the next 2wks so if anyone does need to step in they'll have some info!

Some overview shots:
Settler in position for the final main city at "Living Onigawara" next turn, leaving just the questionable "Nereid" spot to fill. The Southernmost island city is a bit cheeky, but BRick was slow to get there - his city was settled the turn after. I'll keep an eye, but I think he has enough domestic issues to keep him occupied ... plus I just offered him OB, which will boost his economy.
Been taking advantage of my OB deals to map out the neighbourhood:
Just finished Mr. Cairo & Jowy, heading to AT and finish Gawdzak.
Builds:
I /think/ I have the most cities amongst my neighbours by a couple, which is nice. I'll start the SoZ in Grass next turn with the Library overflow. No idea if anyone else has made a play for it, but I'm feeling reasonably secure and so will make a try. Can't let Gawdzak take everything, right?
Techs:
I'll probably go straight to Lit and see if I can get the GLib in my Cap. I've got 3 Forests left in the Cap that I can chop into it ... just need to remember to research Maths before chopping them!

Actually, I went back in to make a quick switch and noticed this:
So he'll be busy going for the MoM and I might have a decent chance....
