[SPOILERS!] Pericles of Babylon. Kyan, Twinkletoes, Whosit.

Welcome to the thread Speaker!

Yes in retrospect, the move wasn't great. I was hoping for better land and got it wrong.

Ok, i got so many things to write about it's un-true.

Firstly, Krill yet AGAIN waited til the very end of the turn before moving- he has clearly made contact and in my opinion has either stumbled accross a capital he is hoping is empty or someone has come accross his. Quite possibly the dim team based on the IT thread.

The bear moved away! So i took the move onto the hill to survey our land and FINALLY we have some decent tiles! Floodplains. God knows how we needed you right now. I propose a city where Novice is standing now, this would quickly encompass the rice-using creative to get a border pop asap.

Immediately after i ended turn, Krill logged in and ended his. This meant the turn rolled over so we can move immediately again. Where would you like to go? We have 3 choices:

west - safe as only a 2mover could catch us and we can then move into relative safety after.
South-west- avoids any possiblity of the bear finding us

or, my preferred option north-west. The bear moved somewhere last turn and even if it was only west- meaning he could still get us he would be:
a) attacking us in a forest and
b) attacking accross a river. combining that with the +25%~ for difficulty and we're getting very nice odds. This also reveals most territory.

Biggest news this turn:

Reagan has psoted requested a reload. It's possible someone mis-moved and hasn't ended their turn yet BUT the 3 teams to have ended turn thus far are:

Sleeping Moogle's Byzantine
Lobo's Korea
Team DIM of HRE

These 3 have all also had posts in their threads. I strongly suspect that one of these 3 - yes team DIM, i'm looking at you- is locked in a race with Krill to protect/conquer a capital.

Krill was one of the first movers every turn and was actively keeping track to see who moved last and then suddenly he's deliberately waiting out the turn timer? I'm not accusing him of anything illegal of course. I think he discovered someone's border and is trying to position his warrior just right so as to sweep in and kill giving as little notice to team DIM as possible.

I can accept moving NW next, I take it move after is onto the hill 2W of our current position?

Without seeing a dotmap, I accept that your planned exodus site seems good.

Speaker - welcome to our thread and I must agree that had we listened to Whosit we may have settled differently. Kyan will attest that I had a quick waver towards Whosit's plan before we moved on Turn 1, but dismissed it in the end.

I think your assessment of Krill is sound, but nothing illegal as far as I'm aware so its kosher in my eyes. However, if he has seen a border, surely that civ would have recieved a pop-up greeting from Krill's civ? That would be an alert to an early rush surely? And surely it would be better for him to attack straight away than 'hover' on the border after the pop up?

I say no to the reload, unless they can prove that they have made a huge error, which at this stage should be unlikely!

This doesn't happen in multiplayer matey. Besides, it's possible to see the edge of someone's border without making contact and they could easily be totally unaware of his prescence.

I'll move novice now and take a screenie for us to ponder over. I'm happy to throw together dotmap version 2 if you want?

You learn something new about multiplayer everyday!

Moving is fine and I would appreciate dotmap 2 if its not too much hassle.

Looks like there will be no reload. Whoever is as cowardly as to not admit their mistake and ask a lurker to do it has gone a lot down in my estimation. We admitted it and eventually just accepted it.

Without giving too much away, it's not the same situation as yours. It's not a unit mismove per se that is the cause for the reload request.

Aye, looks like someone *cough* Krill *cough* has been a naughty boy. Granted the double move rules can be confusing but didn't he write the rule?

[RAGE] In my interpretation this is a clear double move that is being 'justified' by creative exploitation of a grey area. They knew it was as good as a double move but play it anyway, which is underhand and sly. Regardless of the fact that Lobo.Thibron was going to be eliminated either way does not suddenly make this OK. We allow this now and it will haunt us as everyone will start exploiting the rule, making the rule worthless. Changing the rule halfway through is even worse as it means some get away with it early, but others don't.

Surely it's simpler to just say that if the aggressor declares before the defender has moved any units, then they get first part of turn. If they declare after the defender has moved any unit, the aggressor has 2nd part of turn.

That is simple and easy to check as a neutral arbiter/moderator can log in and will see if defender has moved any units.

Why does it need to be more complicated than that?
