I hope that Kyoto holds out. It still looks iffy to me. Do you think that you can do more than hold out? It seems like counter-attacking with just archers is going to be difficult at best.

Or if Ruff edits it out now Yaz will read your post and know anyways. Or if you edit it then he'll read my post. Or iif.... lol

Yaz should learn the art of not trusting what people say. As I have said before, Krill and I play a game where I try and spot his BS and he tries to slip her past me. If Yaz had said something like ...

So, you don't know what is to your South

... to my 'no scouting on South' comment, then I would have had to fess up, or repeat my no scouting comment - both of which would have given the game away.

I am not going to run away from what I have written - who does that? Enemy for life - I don't think that is the situation, just that Yaz has some work to do if he wants to regain some trust. I guess I have the same hill in front of me.

Durrrrr . . . crazyeye I should have thought of that.

@Ruff: You almost make me want to start lurking Krill's thread to see what he's sending to other people. Heh heh.

Turn played. Scratch 1 chariot (expected) after it killed Susa. Scratch 1 CG2 archer (unexpected) after Yaz attacks with his CR2 axe. Guess we now know that Yaz is prepared to attack at 20% odds but not at odds of less than 1% (immortal v spear) or 7.5% (spear v archer). That is good to know.

Kyoto is looking in a bad way ... yaz attacks again and ...

Axe v Archer at 16% - I win
Axe v Archer at 18% - I lose
Immortal v Spear at 0.1% - I win
Immortal v Spear at 0.4% - I win
Immortal v Spear at 18% - I win
Spear v Spear at 57% - I Lose frown

Decided to see if I could get lucky in battle - ran my defending galley into Yaz's 2 that are coming ... lost at 32%. However, my chariot did manage to kill Yaz's last immortal smile at Kyoto. So, the situation at my capital is that I have an injured chariot (due 2 promotions), warrior and an injured archer against a very damaged CR3 axe and a damaged spear with another spear arriving next turn - 2 axes a few turns back.

I whip an archer from scratch.

I was looking at techs (time to construction for war elephants) and left my tech on maths instead of Literature in the game I uploaded.

Blimey this game is exciting! He seems to be getting more than his share of luck though. I disapprove.

Despite some really unlucky combat rolls, you do seem to be making a pretty good case for the protective trait here smile

Any plans you can share for how you intend to recover your civ and/or take the fight to Yaz? You've seemed pretty confident about your chances, but at the same time seem to be stuck whipping archers in your capital. I realize that you're concerned about secrecy, but it would be nice as a lurker to have some more of your tactical perspective smile

Here is some of it ...

  • SquareLeg: Hey Ruff - you got a min?
  • Ruff: yes
  • SquareLeg: Yaz offered me a cease fire in game and I have accepted
I am not planning on fighting him
this isn't to say that I am going to severe all help with you though
However, I feel that I am at a bit of a croiss roads with yaz
  • Ruff: ok
he killed my spear in my capital
  • SquareLeg: I have a chance to build our relations back up by not supporting Japan.
  • Ruff: so his immortals can now run riot there
  • SquareLeg: Urgh that sux
  • Ruff: what does that mean re copper from me?
    a non starter?
    copper for me
  • SquareLeg: no not at all
I want to firm up our alliance
If i am to throw myself into helping you - it has to be worth it
  • Ruff: what do you consider as worth it?
(oh - offered you aesth for alpha in game)
  • SquareLeg: Security, co-operation and general friendly-ness! wink
But for a guarenteed period of time
    can't spell!
  • Ruff: cards on table ti
  • Ruff: I had planned to attack you with samari and WElephants in the future
but that was pre war with Yaz
Japan does not attack nations that have shown friendship in the past
  • SquareLeg: That is good to know - If it makes any difference I considered shipping some troops over to you after the end of your first war with yaz!
Decided it was a bad idea
  • Ruff: troops to help or hurt?
  • SquareLeg: hurt
  • Ruff: oh
  • SquareLeg: i know
    But I didn't smile
  • Ruff: well - I was setting up a galley wall at the time
because I thought I had the West nice and save and the east was a problem
    turns out I was wrong
  • SquareLeg: irnic
    ironic
  • Ruff: yeah
my biggest need at the moment is copper for another spear
I expect he will be flooding me with immortals soon
the other option is that I whip a settler and settle my iron city
you don't happen to have a settler hanging around doing nothing do you?
  • SquareLeg: not quite... one due in 2t
    needs whipping though...
    at my cap
  • Ruff: can I buy him off you?
  • SquareLeg: what for?
  • Ruff: unknown
  • SquareLeg: haha
  • Ruff: our trade arrangement - did that include the music offer?
you didn't mention it when you said ok to trade
    so I wasn't sure
  • SquareLeg: yeah - although tbh - I wasn't considering music
Trade is fine - Currency + Alpha = aesth and lit straight away
i won't bild glib - will you be able to though???
  • Ruff: I am set on construction after lit
well - if I get no builds from everyone else, I can take my time
  • SquareLeg: True
ok - How about we sign a treaty to be clarified by email shortly
I'll be looking at long time though
  • Ruff: sure - want to spell something out?
will that come with settler / city gift?
  • SquareLeg: Then I will pledge to help Japan in defeating Persia
  • Ruff: ok - send me your proposal ... I will look at it very faviourable
will need to consider how this ties in with my other agreements (yes, I have others)
  • SquareLeg: ok - who with - I can have a guess though!
  • Ruff: sorry - not able to share that at this point of time
save to say it IS NOT yaz
  • SquareLeg: ok - could you contact whoever it is and ask if I can know?
  • Ruff: will do
  • SquareLeg: thanks
  • Ruff: are there some that you don't want to get in bed with (if you know what I mean)
  • SquareLeg: I will put something in an email and send it through but I expect we will need to negotiate it down to something workable
    yes
I'll get back to you soon. ta ta for now
  • Ruff: cya

Quote:Hey Luff_hi,

Further to our chat I would like to start the formal negotiations for a treaty between our two nations. I think to begin with we need to know why we are signing this agreement and what we both stand to gain from it.

I want to secure a strong ally and, although currently reeling at war with Persia, I see the potential that Japan holds once it's people are allowed to settle their rightful lands. I will be looking to secure the treaty until T200 at which point the agreement can be extended by mutual agreement. This treaty will include a no right of passage clause so as to not allow enemies to attack though each others waters/lands.

Japan will receive aid in the first place in the form of:

* A settler to settle Iron City and a gift of copper once available until said Iron City is founded. Note - I need a galley to deliver the settler - my other galley is exploring an island far away from where it is needed!
* To keep the Galley already gifted - although it might need to be re-gifted to deliver the settler mentioned above.
* Further aid can be discussed.

In time Japan and Native America will co-ordinate research - my initial idea would be for Japan to research techs already known to other civs for added bonuses to GNP and Native America should research/bulb techs from elsewhere on the tree. Details will be discussed by both parties at the time of research. Another option would be for Japan to specialise as a funder of Native American research whilst acting as the muscle to the relationship. (so to speak)

Note on your already agreed agreement: I would like to know the details but respect confidentiality. If there is potential for us all to form a block together then that is something I would be interested in pursuing.

Please let me know what you think and all terms are negotiable by both parties.

Cheers,
Sitting Bull of the Native Americans
I have approval from Darrell to share his identity (done that) and as much of our secret shhh treaty as I want to.

Another turn, another 300 Persian units turn up at Kyoto.

GG Axe, CR3
Axe, CR3, 3.9 str
Axe, 5 str (due promos?)
Spear, CR1
Spear, C1, Medic 1

Another axe and an immortal 1 turn back with another axe following them.

In Kyoto ...

Archer, CG2, 20% Fortify
Archer, CG2, 15% Fortify
Archer, CG2, 10% Fortify
Archer, CG1, 0%
Chariot, C1, Medic 1

Battle Odds
CR3 Axe v CG2 Archer, 0% Fortify, 40% culture - 56%
CR3 Axe v CG2 Archer, 5% Fortify, 40% culture - 55%
CR3 Axe v CG2 Archer, 10% Fortify, 40% culture - 27%
CR3 Axe v CG2 Archer, 15% Fortify, 40% culture - 25%
CR3 Axe v CG2 Archer, 20% Fortify, 40% culture - 25%
CR3 Axe v CG2 Archer, 25% Fortify, 40% culture - 22%

CR2 Axe v CG2 Archer, 0% Fortify, 40% culture - 22%

Look at the tipping point between 5% fortify and 10% fortify.

So, attack odds based on his actual units ...

25% - GG Axe, CR3
?% - Axe, CR3, 3.9 str
17% - Axe, CR2

I don't expect he will attack next turn. The odds calculator that I am using doesn't factor in the +50% for the immortal - I think the odds are about 22%.

The only way I can see him taking this city is if he reloads to select the order of attack, or attacks each turn and only keeps the turns he likes. There isn't much I can do about that ... is there anything the lurkers can do?
