Yeah, let's talk about this:
(August 23rd, 2013, 10:07)Bacchus Wrote: Of course, it all comes from rushing off somewhere in pointless and innattentive haste. As said above, rather than just rely on myself to stop doing this, I set up a script which will throw me out of the server after a period of no more than 2 hours, even if I do forget again.
I honestly do not intend to be harsh/mean here, but it needs to be said: there's no reason for this at all. I've had something come up before during a turn play, and it takes me 3 seconds maximum to hit "exit to main menu" and walk away. Then as soon as I'm reasonably able, I'll log back in and complete the turn. There's no reason to walk away from the computer while still logged into a pitboss - especially at this phase of the game where it just takes a few seconds to log in to begin with. Especially when you seem to have sporadic connectivity issues. General rule: just don't do this ever. Please.
The turns are not complicated right now. If it's taking hours to handle 1-3 cities and < half dozen units, how long will the logins be when you're fighting wars with hundreds of units? I'm kind of terrified of what might happen to the game pace when we get there . Anyway, I hope this wasn't taken as rude, but we really need to get this sorted out before the we get too deep into the game.
Side note: if it's at all possible, Bacchus/retep really ought to consider swapping in your turn order. Retep obviously can play very quickly, so it makes sense for him to play and leave the rest of the timer to Bacchus.

No-no, I'm here and thinking, and we are only half-way through the turn, after all.

retep - Your firewall could use some reconfiguring. I'm also in the camp that can't connect to you.

Not really a problem since my turns last 3 minutes
Okay I look into the problem later, just enter to say that I barley play the turn before going to work so you guys are lucky.
And no scooter, sadly is not possible.

Has anybody come across a problem where they load civ fine, connect to the MP game, select their civ -- all good so far. It goes through the screen 'Transfering Data to Disk' and everything seems peachy. Then the next screen, 'Initializing', it hangs. Does that for a minute and then I get a runtime C++ error and crash to desktop.
Any idea what's causing that? I tried reinstalling RBMod but it still happens

Just a shot in the dark, is there any chance you're putting the mod in the Documents/My Games directory? That works in SP but not with PB as a few of us found out.
