[SPOILERS] The Legend Ends - Whosit's Adventure

Way overdue for an update. I've been stockpiling pictures, but each update I miss, my desire to bother with the update diminishes. Just gonna force myself. Guess I'll try to cull out unimportant images.

Took me a moment to remember why I took this, and it's because I wanted to highlight what I could do with my fast workers. I was able to build roads on the next turn so my Axe could smack down that barb archer before it could pillage anything.

A city I settled several turns ago in a desperate attempt to boost my city count. Not a bad place, but if Yuris wants to take it, he won't have much trouble. I'll try to pack a few more guys in there, but it's low priority.

This is where I'll be settling on the next turn. Don't have a name picked out yet, though. This will probably end up belonging to Dhal, but I figured I should make an attempt to grab what little land is left. With a fort east of the mountain, it might be possible to hold against a ground force, but I'll need serious sea power to protect it from water.

Dhal has certainly done a better job of expanding than I have.

Last one to civil service. I would start my golden age after this to swap. First, seems I had some overview shots, as well as my horribly backwards demos.

And then a golden age (with the engineer I was saving) demos:

Kind of sad for a golden age, huh? If this was what my stats normally were, I might almost think I wasn't so horribly backwards.

I don't know if I'm technically phoning this in, since I'm making some attempt to strengthen my position, but I know I lost this a long time ago. My focus is on the greener pastures of PB18 (which I am also destined to lose, but I knew that going in).

A few items of note this turn:

Settled a new town (I named it wrong; supposed to be "Kokiri Jungle." I'll have to change it next turn):

Used an artist specialist (caste system) plus creative to pop borders in one turn. Dhal used an artist in Eeloo to pop borders, I'm sure. I'll keep the artist another turn because I think I can steal those clams away. Amusingly, those triremes were guarding that 1 tile pass which I now control. I'm building a few boats in Great Bay, so I'll move them down to secure that pass. Holding that will help me secure Kokiri by sea, although Dhal could still build galleys out of Eeloo and hit my city right away, but at least I could see those coming. I think I'll get walls in Kokiri as fast as I can.

Gonna shuttle down some workers and troops to hold it, and I have a missionary that's been waiting around a while. I should have just sent him by land at this rate.

Dhal is showing me that he has Macemen. Well, I just got the tech I need for them, too, so I'll build a few and show them to him right back. Wonder when this cold war is gonna turn hot. I'm sure my new city plant isn't gonna make Dhal any happier with me.

I used to think my PYFT value was pretty good, but I think I've been the largest source of missed turns in this game to date. frown

Time to play some update catchup:

Turn 104
[Image: T104%20Events.JPG]

Note here is that war broke out again between Yuris and Gaz/Hashoosh. I don't expect that to go well for Hashoosh.

I also popped a Great Scientist, who was destined to create an Academy in the capital.

Academy gave me +40 beakers, although I am still in my Golden Age, so that's probably going to drop off. I'm not sure at all if an academy was the best choice. Utilizing Great People is probably one of the strategies I am weakest in. I'm not sure if it would have been better to bulb, but since I'm running Bureaucracy I thought I might as well put the Academy in the capital.

Dhal founded a city there. Jube I think? Culture war between Kokiri Jungle and the French town across the water is ongoing, but I'm going to be losing since I can't run the artist any longer because I need to start growing (netted the fish). Island towns are growing quickly. Most of them I'm gearing towards production. I should probably slip Moai in somewhere, but once those cities start working all of their good land tiles, I suppose I could just have them work as much coast as possible to earn more commerce.

Don't feel like uploading pictures yet, but Dhal declared war, used a Maceman to snatch the 2 workers south of Kokiri Jungle. I decided "to hell with it" and spent 2 Archers so a Spearman could kill the maceman and take my Workers back. Upgraded remaining archer to crossbowman and moved my little navy to try to threaten Dhal's boats. He had 2 galleys. Hopefully they were just there to collect the workers and don't have anything else onboard that can attack this turn. I was really careless.

Also, the city that's fighting Kokiri for the clams got its borders popped, so I'll probably lose that culture war, at least in the short term. I can build maces of my own (and have been) and got Engineering for pikes, too. Feudalism is next stop, but Golden Age ended.... I'd have to be in a permanent golden age to have a chance here.

I guess I still haven't felt like uploading pictures. I lost Kokiri, of course, and Dhal offered peace, but I'm a stubborn bastard who knows he's on the way out, so I launched a counter attack at that fortified city of Duna, or whatever. I have 3 Macement, about 11 catapults, a bunch of axes and a couple of spears against 60% defenses with a Longbow that has a promotion available, a smattering of other units, and whatever Dhal is able to cram in during the next turn. Target city is certainly within range to get reinforcements, but I'm just gonna hope that he's spread a little thin defending his large and expansive realm.

Of course, even without reinforcements, I'm not confident I can take that city. I'm not going to try to knock down that cultural defense, so I'll probably just have to suicide every single catapult and then hope for the best.... Assuming my stack is alive next turn, anyway.

Hyrule has been eclipsed, and will soon fall, I fear.

Ilios declared war on me. A couple stacks of Knights to the north, a small stack to the south. In a fit of petulance, I attacked Dhal's city anyway, hoping to at least take it down with me.

It held with one half dead chariot. Urgh.

Now I regret taking those island cities because it means my death will take that much longer.

So, I have the turn. Dhal offered peace again, and Ilios is pretty much smashing through all of my "defenses." However, and interesting wrinkle: Duna has not been reinforced. Well, it has, sort of. It has a fresh Longbowman, but nothing else. Also of interest is that Dhal spawned a Great Artist there. I'm on my way out. I'm gonna die. But I can burn down Duna and kill that Great Artist on my way down.

But before I play the turn, I want to ask any lurkers if that is bad sportsmanship at all. I don't think it is. Dhal attacked me first, anyway. I have just seen a lot of discussions about losing players "wrecking" other peoples' games, and I'd rather not have that charge leveled against me.

If I don't hear anything in about an hour or so, Duna burns. I don't wanna hold up the turn, after all.....

I don't see why anyone would have a problem with that.

Well, Duna finally burned. Mission successful?
