I guess I should post this here. When I was doing research on board exploits, it appears that newer version of VBulletin in the 4.x and above versions are MORE vulnerable to certain exploits because they add tons of new features like blogs. I would recommend to NOT upgrade the board to a new version but rather if possible to apply patches for 3.8.4.
I can verify it seems up to date but without someone to actually look at what version is deployed on the server.

4 is a new version, not a free update.
Anyway, the latest 3.8 version seems to be 3.8.7 so the one in charge just needs to do the update.

Is it, I seem to recall a 3.8.4 version that would protect against the malware injection we experienced. I found a post about a guy who was doing malware injects for money against this version but that was a few years ago and the exploit is probably common knowledge on a private forum or something.

I haven't got file system access to install vBulletin 3.8.7. Still haven't heard back from KingOfPain for months now.
I cleaned up this forum a bit, unstickying some of those old threads, and renaming and stickying this one. One of those old threads was about a RB image upload server... I don't think that's worked in like forever, has it? Seems that nowadays people are familiar and comfortable with the likes of Dropbox or Imageshack so I won't worry about it.

FYI all, I've turned on the swearing filter, thanks to a certain argument that's getting a bit out of hand. We've never needed rules against that before but I feel it's necessary here. (Please nobody start a meta-fight over THAT.  )
