This requires a little thought. Dazed has a city that has claimed the ivory with its third ring.

The CY graph is like...obscene.

I met you halfway and put one of the workers on the jungle, one on the grassland, and loaded up a settler and phalanx. The workers can move onto one forest each next turn to chop a library, overflowing to a work boat. The settler and phalanx can unload on the rice. (Yes I'm going ahead as planned - what's one more enemy for life?)

Here's the crop yield graph that NH found obscene. cool

Yeah I was just emphasizing the fact that you could unload workers on the jungle and still pick up the settler with the galley. I figured you'd want to either chop both forests or start mining the copper, which landing on the jungle would let you do.

My units unloaded from the galley, across the river of Rubicon to the jungled rice.

I'm pretty pleased with these demos:

My obscene crop yield has plummeted a bit, since I'm emphasizing commerce/specialists.

Those are nice demos all right. Could I see a save, pretty please?

Edit: Thanks! I'll now make comments about it in the lurker thread. wink

I didn't realize that dazed had already gotten the ivory into his borders. Irrespective of possible conflict, I'm not sure we're going to be able to claim it anytime soon, so it may have been better to settle the other ivory instead. Oh well.

Yeah the ivory will take time to claim. But all the same it felt like the strongest island city I could settle, having very good tiles, claiming a lot of territory, and being reasonably close to my capital. So I decided to just go ahead and settle the city. I guesstimate currency in about 10 turns, at which point I can settle another island city. And if the happy crunch gets too bad I can always settle on top of the gems.

The alternative would have been settling S-SW of its current location, but this felt more fun. smile

I guess loading the units back on to the galley and settling the S-SW location might be a way to signal "I just did you a favour"... (Well actually walking over land would be quicker)

I forgot that we have odeons. So yeah, Construction after Currency sounds good.

Settling Ball improved my economy by about 5gpt. Currency, here we come.

Dazed was none too happy, he turned his galley around. I'm forting a canal and bringing my southern galley north, might whip a third galley from Mama as well.

Power graph also shows that Zak got a military tech a few turns ago and is building some real units now. I'm hoping it's iron working since that would mean he has a defensive mindset, which he should have IMO. He has tGLH so he should be expanding a bit, outtech me, and get his revenge later. Iron Working is a useful economic tech too, HBR isn't. Then again, maybe I'm actually doing well enough right now that he should be attacking sooner rather than later. I'll build a spear in Pita, at least, and keep an eye on his power.

My scout sentry in the north spotted two Bold(ly) workers - he may finally be expanding south. Seems like he's headed no further than the silver though.

By the way, does anybody know how "We yearn to join our motherland" unhappiness works? Pita has one such unhappy, at size 5, with 40% Holy Roman culture.

It's proportional to the tile culture on the city tile and the size of the city. I don't know the exact formula though.
