Okay, must have got confused there. In any event, the Pitboss2 map was definitely awesome. Would like to have a play on a map like that just for fun myself. (You don't happen to have a copy around do you?)
Also: Merry Christmas to all from New Zealand! (I realise you may not be quite there in the US yet. ![wink wink](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/wink2.gif) )

The forums seem understandably dead, so I am going to push sign-ups back to the 27th.

Still seems pretty dead around here.
Who do I need to talk to about getting a sub-forum for PB4?

When the game starts, we'll create a new forum for it. Until then, it's better to hold discussion in the General Forum in this thread. You're unlikely to get any more signups if the organizing thread is buried in a sub-forum.
Perhaps there's little posting in the thread because those who are interested have already signed up (?)

Agreed.
Today is the final day for sign-ups and I saw some people earlier in the thread saying that we should move this to a sub-forum once sign-ups end.

I could ask some of my friends from other sites if they're interested, if you'd like? Not sure how necessary it is to increase the number of players in the game. We already have at least 9, which isn't bad. In fact a smaller number of players should mean tech trading wouldn't get too out of control, if we turned it on. Anyway, just a thought. But seriously, 9 doesn't seem that bad to me.

I think we have a good number.
Of the six players without a teammate, do any of you want to claim one of the three volunteered dedlurkers (or even team up together)?
I am still open to adding sunrise, Rego, or TT if they still want to play, given their expressed interest, but I figure we should go ahead and start voting on the stuff that needs to be decided.
Votes so far:
Plako:
Undecided:
1. Tatan's Leader/Civ Ban List + Huayna Capac & Vicky - Ok
3. Game speed - Normal
4. Map wrap - Map maker's decision
5. Game difficulty - Monarch
6. Barbarians - off
7. Screenshots/Map Trades Allowed at: 3. Always
8. No Contact until: 2. Brokered by Civ who directly met other Civ
9. Lurkers Code of Conduct: ok
11. Number of Pauses: 0
10. Everyone or No one gets Ivory - No War Elephants is better rule. Map maker can make the final desicion
6. No Pauses - Except in case of technical glitches or reloads when someone might lose his turn because of this. Pause shouldn't be longer than 24h. maybe some pre-scheluded holidays with longer timer could also be agreed.
Mackoti:
1. Tatan's Leader/Civ Ban List (plus Huayna Capac & Vicky) NO civ and leader ban.
2. Starting Unit of Civs (Default or Uniform) Default( its an important chose)
3. Game speed - Normal or quick
4. Map wrap -doesnt mather just i want to know before picking the civ
5. Game difficulty - prince
6. Barbarians - off
7. Screenshots/Map Trades Allowed at: 1. Alphabet 2. Paper 3. Always 4. Never- 1
8. No Contact until: 1. Met In-game 2. Brokered by Civ who directly met other Civ-1
9. Lurkers Code of Conduct- OK
10. Ivory Allowed?- ye but not war elefants
11. Number of Pauses -1
Sleeping Moogle:
1. Tatan's Leader/Civ Ban List (plus Huayna Capac & Vicky): - If this game starts with a high number of participants, we may have to open up the full list as the amount of choice becomes rather thin. Other than that, I don't mind either way.
2. Starting Unit of Civs (Default or Uniform) - Default
3. Game speed - Normal
4. Map wrap - If the difficulty is lower than Monarch, toroidal. If Monarch or above, Cylindrical or no wrap. Ultimately this should be the mapmaker's decision though. I'd rather not have us sabotage a great design due to world wrapping.
5. Game difficulty - Monarch
6. Barbarians - On, and Raging if the difficulty is lower than Monarch
7. Screenshots/Map Trades Allowed at: - Always; previous efforts have just led to long descriptions instead
8. No Contact until: - Met in-game
9. Lurkers Code of Conduct - Agreed
10. Ivory Allowed? - Mapmaker's decision, but War Elephants should be universally banned
11. Number of Pauses - 5 per Civ, with the ability to assign more if needed on general agreement
Gaspar
1. I'll vote for Cyneheard's limited ban list. If it's Tatan's or nothing, I'll go with Tatan's.
2. Starting Unit of Civs: Default
3. Game speed: Normal
4. Map wrap: Up to mapmaker
5. Game difficulty: Monarch
6. Barbarians: Off
7. Screenshots/Map Trades Allowed at: 2. Paper
8. No Contact until: 1. Met In-game
9. Lurkers Code of Conduct: In the long run, these games are as much fun for the lurkers as the players. I'd again prefer less lawyering for what can and cannot be posted.
10. Ivory Allowed? Just keep it off the map, less lawyering needed that way.
11. Number of Pauses: 1 per team.
Nakor
1. I'm ok with everyting.
2. Starting Unit of Civs: Default
3. Game speed: Normal
4. Map wrap: Up to mapmaker
5. Game difficulty: Monarch
6. Barbarians: On
7. Screenshots/Map Trades Allowed at: 2. Paper
8. No Contact until: 1. Met In-game
9. Lurkers Code of Conduct: No opinion, just don't spoil.
10. Ivory Allowed? With no WE, just leave it off
11. Number of Pauses: None
Luddite:
1. Tatan's Leader/Civ Ban List + Huayna Capac
2. Starting unit- default
3. Game speed - quick
4. Map wrap - Toroidal
5. Game difficulty - prince with toroidal, otherwise monarch
6. Barbarians - off
7. Screenshots/Map Trades Allowed at: Always
8. No Contact until: direct contact
9. Lurkers Code of Conduct: ok
10. Ivory- yes but no war elephants
11. Number of Pauses: 0, if you have to miss a turn it's not the end of the world
Adlain
1. Tatan's Leader/Civ Ban List (plus Huayna Capac & Vicky): Fine with or without this
2. Starting Unit of Civs (Default or Uniform): Default

4. Map wrap: Dont mind aslong as known before Civ Choice
5. Game difficulty: Monarch
6. Barbarians: On
7. Screenshots/Map Trades Allowed at: 1. Alphabet 2. Paper 3. Always 4. Never: Answer: 1
8. No Contact until: 1. Met In-game 2. Brokered by Civ who directly met other Civ: Answer: 1
9. Lurkers Code of Conduct: Dont mind etherway
10. Ivory Allowed?: Yes
11. Number of Pauses: 1
Lord Parkin
1. I actually don't know what these leader ban lists are (can someone link me?). All in all I have to say I'd rather not have any leaders/civs banned, for simplicity. No leader or civ combination is so overpowered that it can't be defeated with a bit of diplomacy and strategic cunning early enough. I would have thought there's a self-imposed penalty for picking a "good" leader/civ, which is that other players are more inclined to want to take you out early on before you run away.
2. Starting units default, let's not mess with the pros and cons of choosing Hunting as a starting tech please.
3. Normal game speed preferred. I might be talked into Epic if enough people want it. Quick is inappropriate for anything bigger than a duel IMHO, and Marathon is just a pain when you're playing 1-2 turns per day.
4. Not a strong preference, although I prefer a regular cylindrical map wrap.
5. Monarch's usually a pretty good difficulty for these games.
6. Would really rather have barbarians on (normal) as turning them off removes one of the key penalties for early overexpansion which some players will exploit to their advantage. Not to mention it messes with the Great Wall usefulness (which will already be nerfed due to no active espionage being permitted in this game). Don't have raging barbs though, or else the Great Wall's often a bit too powerful (depending on the map).
7. Screenshots and map trades should be allowed anytime between players that have met. Otherwise you just end up with some players sending long descriptions of the exact same thing and getting an advantage for doing so.
8. You shouldn't be able to contact a civ you haven't directly met in-game. However, I don't think it's a problem to be aware that a civ you've met is in contact with someone else, and to ask them to pass along a message if you so desire.
9. Lurkers Code of Conduct - not sure what this is? As long as people aren't spoiling information to players who shouldn't know that information, I don't really mind either way.
10. Personally I don't mind either Ivory or War Elephants, but if other people are keen to ban War Elephants, then that's fine with me. Keep the Ivory resource in the game though - it's a handy happiness boost.
11. Number of Pauses - is it really necessary to police this? In my experience pauses usually don't start occurring until well into the game, if at all... and most players are reasonable about being courteous and not using them unnecessarily. As long as someone isn't being a pain by pausing too often, I don't think we should artificially limit the number of times they can pause the game in total.
Locke
1) #1 choice is no limits on picks with snake pick. #2 choice is snake pick with best leaders out. I dont like this because all best leaders are gone. That's not fun. But I vote for this over crazy auction, do not want auction.
2) Do not understand this question. Default starting unit I think?
3) Normal game speed. Quick is second best option. Rest are to slow.
4) I dont care about map wrap.
5) Something in the middle for difficulty. Dont care if its Noble or Prince or Monrach.
6) No barbs is better. I see people get free city from barbs and that's not fair.
7) Map trade at Paper cause that's how it is in the game.
Contact when you meet people in game. Trade contact is silly.
9) What is lurker code of conduct? I dont understand.
10) Do not allow ivory. Elephants are too strong. Take off map or dont let people build elephatns.
11) I dont care about pauses. Should not be many if you have a number.Lots of pauses slow down game to much. (Then it become PBEM lol.)
Waiting to hear from

2. Cervantes (although Locke already replied)
3. Ioan76 (although Mackoti has given a reply)
