Food is king. From food comes all other resources. I probably would have farmed the banana before instead of cottaging it though. (I haven't read the earlier posts so I don't know what the context of that decision was.)

I just thought of it as a flood plains when I cottaged it before - and since you normally cottage flood plains then I figured it was worth it to cottage the banana. I think however that if I was going to plow over a village that was halfway to becoming a town for +2 food then I probably should have just farmed it at the start too.
Though come to think on it, up until I conquered Gira I had a lot of happiness issues and had stacked whip anger in several cities, so perhaps I did make the right choice for that situation.
Speaking of food is king, Mjmd is starting to look like my late game competition...

My thoughts are turning ever abroad even as Superdeath still has to be dealt with back home
I have to imagine this is designed to get him somewhere, but his GPT has been so low it's hard to say where. Still, with all the rep specialists it's hard to say just what he could be doing for a science rate, but I don't feel he is my equal there. I would have to imagine he wants Machinery out of this at least - though it is noteworthy that he didn't revolt into anything. I wonder if he has anything beyond Slavery for civics.
Jowy has just finished his golden age and he used his to get Civil Service and end in Bureaucracy. However, Jowy continues to amass gold and it is hard to see to what purpose he is doing so. He could have had at least another classical era tech by now had he not been saving for so long. What is he saving for? Unit upgrade seems like the obvious answer and yet it's hard to imagine which unit he would go for. Also, Jowy has the least number of cities. He's going to need to turn his technological advantage into cities before it's too late.
As for myself, my first GA is in 5 turns. I have finished Metal Casting on t125 and the plan is to get Polytheism and Monotheism both before the GA starts. We'll open up with a civic revolt into Organized Religion and finally adopting Buddhism, and then hopefully end the Golden Age having finished Feudalism and letting me swap into Hereditary Rule and Vassalage. This may mean a lot of Wealth Builds during my GA and not as many forges, which I want to be building then. But the civic change is more important I feel. Really we need to get within spitting distance of knights and then decide whether to push through to the last 2 techs or if it's worth heading to the north end of the tree and picking up Literature for the Epics and Great Library.
I'm amazed that still nobody has gotten Aesthetics. Not even flush-with-cash Jowy.
Also, note the trade routes. All of my best routes have gone to the Cothon cities, but there are still 11 cities that are stuck on internal routes - meaning I do need to get a settler out for one of the island cities. The city would easily pay for itself since there seems to be an anti-PRO bloc forming.
Quite the power dip from Superdeath and myself.
Demos. Still rocking the food lead, but I believe that is Superdeath taking the mfg thanks to his golden age powered mines.

I had forgotten to count the Cothons since building them, so I went back and fixed that. Whipped another one in Lake this turn.

God I really want to invade Mjmd. He's running this a farmer gambit and both his neighbors are involved in wars so nobody is going to punish him for it.
But I'm also really sure I don't want to whip my economy into the ground at this point in order to finish off Superdeath. Could I take Mjmd's elephants and turn that into an army which invades Mjmd? God that would be treacherous; nobody would ever trust me in this game again.
The plan right now is I tech to knights and then whip everything into the ground and use the knights to kill Superdeath then turn them around and kill Mjmd. That means more Wealth Builds in the short term. Downside is I give Mjmd potentially some time to do something with all his cities.
Shorter term I need to get some settlers out myself and make sure he doesnt' claim anything more in my direction. He's as far as I want him to go. Oh, but i want to finish these elephants because I'm only keeping the trade active for 10 turns. Decisions, decisions!

It's weird how people post these complaints like the answer today, tomorrow, and for all of time isn't MORE NUMIDIANS.

Turn 126
Buddhism did a thing!
I think this is the first free spread I've gotten to a city that did not already have culture. Not counting the holy city in Yamhill of course. I never planned on spending hammers at Marion for popping borders and was going to wait for Org Rel to get a missionary, but this just speeds it all up considerably - and means I get Dyes online sooner! All in all, it might change my plans for Marion since now I'm going to be able to grow onto the dyes. I am going to want to try and secure those dye tiles and get workers up here.
I've taken to calling this the 'superfront':
So I initially just had the sentry numid in range to get sight on Boil It and then after moving my 2-movers I realized I could get more sight by moving onto the hill. And good thing I did because if this is the extent of Superdeath's forces then it's time to push in. So I loaded another sword on the galleys and moved 2 of them up, and next turn we're moving everything from Coos up to the Ivory. What I'm not sure yet is if I also move the 2-movers up or if I need to wait on them 1 turn for Superdeath to commit to a direction and potentially loop the two-movers around and hit him in the west where I suspect he is weak. This is why I should have waited on moving the 2-movers until after i had finished with the sentry Numidian. But at the same time, maybe this is still right: if I move everything up he doesn't have enough numbers to cover everything. This will make him hole up in Boil It and I can still bounce farther west after. And then swords on the galleys are going to try and kill his ICTRs from his island city.
Superdeath is making a good 135gpt right now in the golden age, a number that is so much inflated from the 20gpt he had a few turns ago that I think he has either stopped working specialists or he is working a lot of Wealth Builds. At the very least we need to disrupt those Wealth builds and keep him from teching away during his golden age.
Lastly, what do I do with this guy?
I think realistically there's nothing for him to do until I get Optics and pop his border. Then we can slowly grow as a fishing village off the whales. Perhaps I could even try for that now and build a lighthouse but I'm not sure that's even worth it until I get the whales hooked up.

Curry looks like the ultimate civ3 city.

If someone came along and razed Curry next turn I don't think I would be mad.

Not convinced you should have settled that city until 30 turns later...
