Was thinking if I do decide to go with a naked character, it will be a summoner, not an engineer. Summoners seem to be able to get more pets out and rely more on their pets to do damage, less on themselves. Auto-equip on armour is a pain for naked chars, though; wonder if I can turn that off?

Having thought about it some more, and given my play habits, I really don't think I can justify a Founder's subscription. I think going with a subscription a single month at a time, say two to four times a year, will be a more economical and attractive alternative for my own personal use. This means that most of my characters will be open characters, with maybe one elite character, but I'm willing to go forward on that basis.
That said, if multiple people can run characters from a single RB Founders account at once, ala bnet, I'd be willing to go in for a share on that.

It was a toss between a summoner or an engineer but since I always have a habit starting my roster with a nuker too, I went with normal nuker to see what a max damage cabalist can do, and engineer nudist just for the idea of twink-able bots. Anyway, these are test characters so I don't have a problem breaking my own rules when the need arises.
Good thing if you are going naked Summoner, we need to see where every classes' power curve is. I am thinking of keeping/posting a journal with soon to be remade NanoSkirt if time permits; And I hope to see the same from you and other peeps

HG:L may not work in exactly the same way as some previous games, so you should probably take that into account.
As far as items go, the quality of the items you can equip depends primarily on your stats, so if you don't assign any stat points you won't be able to equip any good items.
As far as skills go, there aren't too many characters that can get by purely on their skills (unlike Diablo BNMs, for example). Maybe summoners, but I'm not sure. (Evokers require good focus items to do high damage with their skills.)
None of these distinctions are too apparent early on in the game, but later on they may become very significant.

Best way to figure out if more than one character on the same account can be played at once will be to try it out, I suppose. Who is up for that test?
Even naked summoners are probably going to have some troubles without any gear. Quite probably lots of troubles; there are quite a few AoE attacks as you progress through the game. Insurmountable troubles? We'll see!
Slacker is a little simpler in some ways. The idea with Slacker in D2 was never to have no stat/skill investment for the whole game, it was to progress through the game in stages and as the slacker 'grows up', more stat points and skill points are unlocked for use. Playing through the game a bit will give some good breakpoints for growth stages. That said, with all gear options open, and +skills from weapons, I've gotten to level 11 so far without allocating any stats or skills, and foresee being able to make it at least a few more clvls before potentially hitting a brick wall. I'm hoping I can at least complete act 1 before needing to start allocating attributes and/or skills.
I think I'm going to make a vita-dian (~= a D2 vita-din) for my third starting character -- a Guardian that allocates all stats to stamina and can only have armour that boosts stamina, hit points, shields, or healing. As far as weapons/shields go... I'd need to see what options there are in that department as far as affixes go; ideally the same would hold for weapons/shields but that might be impractical.

Tried logging into the same account last night with KoP, but it disconnected his logged in character and I got a server error. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure it won't work like D2 does.

I found that I was getting major lag last night when I tried to log into the game. Perhaps today sometime we can try another test?

Looking around for Hell difficulty, it seems it's going to be part of a content update as well??
Geez, the hits just keep on coming, don't they?
Maybe I will subscribe anyway just to avoid the aggravation of finding out what ELSE they are denying to the FTP folks?

I won't be able to do it if the beta is over this afternoon. For those who want want to give it a try, you can always use the RB vent server to meet up and synchronize. It's as good as having our own irc channels

I just did a quick test. When RisinDragon tried to log onto my account while I was in a game, he got a Firewall error. He surmises that this is the way that account-sharing is blocked...
