Applied as schraucadnos. For clarification, I've mentioned who I am in the invite message.
X-fire, Guilds and RBD

Having tried out Xfire chat today, it seemed to work but in combination with HG:L caused quite a bit of stuttering and dropped packets, affecting both HG:L's performance and the comprehensibility of the chat session. We switched to Ventrilo using the RBGW server and this seemed better for voice comms.
Additionally, anyone wishing to have Xfire and HG:L up at once would be best advised to do anything they want to do and set up any chat rooms they want to set up before starting HG:L. It seems there are many HG:L operations that will not work properly while HG:L is running, notably including receiving invitations to chat rooms. Overall it does not seem like Xfire and HG:L play well together.
Another issue with xf voice chat enabled is that my frame rate dropped from the mid 30s to lower single digits. I do not believe this happened to either Zed or Roland with whom I was playing at the time, but, for me, using XF voice chat is a game breaker. There was no problem at all when we switched to Ventrillo and the quality was better as well.
Regarding in-game guilds:
There is a thread here on the Hellgate: London 'official' forums that lists the guilds. Should we have RealmsBeyond listed there too?
I hope we are not going to repeat the same mistake we experienced in GW, with people pushing for mass recruitment which created more drama than its worth.
Maybe something like this would work, as I have posted in a hgl forum elsewhere back in September? Quote:We are not recruiting I am sure you guys can make it sound better than me. Comments? KoP
A better idea is for someone to write up a sweet but honest review of HGL and (cross)post it in our very own Civ forum. Anyone?

Well, that rules *THIS* guy out: http://www.somethingawful.com/d/news/hel...iption.php My favorite, though this one hasn't happened to me (as I don't subscribe), but I've seen it complained about enough in the forums to know it does: "Billing adventure puzzle! Sometimes we charge you $9.99 every month, and sometimes we charge you $9.99 every single day. Keep a close eye on your credit card activity and enjoy this extra layer of gameplay. The fun doesn't stop when you turn off the game or when it crashes you to your desktop!" --Cy **ps--whose cat is that buried in the opening graveyard? |
