Quote:Using Surveyor tool (F1) you can check for nearby cities
We had some thourough discussion about this one on Dragonsword. The annoying part of it is that you will "discover" an enemy city even if you're just using surveyor for something else (like terrain features). So it cannot be totally avoided.
I thought I would disable the enemy city info screen WHEN the city is invisible to you. But as Catwalk said, sometimes it is not funny - you go on to build settlers for 10 turns, you spend 15 turns moving them to the spot, only to see that an unknown enemy city on another island blocks your settling point...
Solution / suggestion: the interface. An extra click will block the feature, so that you may play entirely without it, but put it on if necessary (settlers case).

Will look at it.

The quick SOM bug
Always wondered how on earth did the AI research the SOM so quickly? It appeared in numerous test-games with the patch. Now, before you get totally frustrated, there's a bad SOM bug.
In case any player chooses 11 starting books, the SOM research price (for unknown reason to me) is reduced by a special 40% discount. The normal research price is 60.000 RP, the reduced one should be 36.000. But as it seems they used the casting cost instead of research cost for the discount. The AI (or human player with 11 books) needs only 3.000 RPs (e.g. 5% of total) to start the casting.

AI doesn't seem to care about valid targets for Black and Chaos channels.
I've seen Black Channeled Werewolves in 1.40h.
I've seen Rakir the Beastmaster with Fire Breath, Wings and Demon Skin (1.40f). In fact, he had more than 1 instance of fire breat and Demon Skin (double or triple), giving him pretty high bonuses ! At that point my army was strong enough to not care.
No savegames, because don't think it would help. You can't force the AI to cast a specific spell, right ?

b0rsuk, thanks again for your contribution, I find it quite helpful. Please, be patient, I am no pro and I have other concerns in my life (which is currently getting back to its overdrive status).

I surely can. AI can cast nothing but Black Channels if you like it.
[There is a lot of room for the battle spells, extra conditions and situations. There's very little room for overland spells, where the AI uses simple weighs in a RNG process]

Ok, I've had enough of this bug. My ultra elite klackons and very strong Serena saved the day, but I was forced to fight with 5+1 units instead of 8. Sometimes not all units join battles in defense of towers. I thought maybe it was caused by switching planes, so I switched them all to Arcanus, activated, and made them patrol. It doesn't help.
Savegame: http://www.sendspace.com/file/3phc3w
You should see Serena with lots of Klackon infantry guarding a tower. Right next to them is a big AI army consisting of cavalry and stag beetles. AI thinks it can win.

Could I rename you to bug-suk? Or b0r-bug?
(Thanks for a well documented bug. I've never heard of this one. Note taken.)

I can confirm this as a bug in Vanilla as well.
Often I have guarded towers with units from both planes.
If you move a unit from Arcania into the tower, than when the tower is attacked from Myrror, there is a chance that the unit from Arcania will not be present as a defender. Moreover, if this happens, this will be the case in all following battles started from Myrror as well. My solution has been to move the entire stack 1 step into Myrror and back again.

"b0rsuk" is a slightly modified "badger" in polish. Several years ago putting "0" in the middle was enough to make the nickname unique in the whole internet. Now even "mechanical badger" and "clockwork badger" are taken.
Would that make my CV look better ? I'm looking for a job, it could be software testing. Unfortunately I can't get into any commercial game beta tests, they don't want Linux gamers.
To find bugs like these, you just need to play more games :P. But really, I think it's just most people don't care and I look good by comparison. I'm pleased that the game looks better with each patch, and you seem motivated by the attention your patches get. Everyone benefits.

Dispel/Disenchant bug
Dispel Magic and Disenchant Area (as well as their True variants) work incorrectly when cast by player. They work as expected when cast by AI, but I keep removing my own enchantments. This shouldn't happen. The manual (or rather official Master of Magic Spellbook) says:
Quote: The enchantments automatically targeted by this spell are detrimental to your cause.
In case a savegame helps, here's one for the disenchant testing. I have only 50ish skill, but Serena has above 80. Use her to initiate a battle.

It's kind of nice to see that you're using me in your games. :duel:
