Problem was solved in a lazy manner because I didn't feel like doing a massive edit of the WBfile. You are Arabia, and I gave you a scout for whatever nefarious reasons you want ascribe to me.

Guess Krill wants you to settle in place, why else would he start you on a plains hill?

Also if you have a scout then I presume everyone starts with a scout. Pesky Krill.

No worries about not posting so much. I started a new job a couple of months ago after several months of doing not much so I know what it's like to suddenly be busy all the time!

If you could let me know when you manage to log on and set a password that would be good.

Right, got myself loged into the game. Confirmed we are def Wang Kon of Arabia for better or worse smile

well, i moved our Warrior NW onto a hill, saw a nice Riverbed of Grasslands, but thats far away atm and no other Resourses so i have settled in place.

I have set our tech plan to Hunting to get those deer up asap (GL River Forrest Deer will give us 5F and 1 or 2 hammers so is a very nice tile to be working first up once improved.

Started on Worker, i know its a farmers gambit, but i plan to keep my first warrior close, built a scout after the worker, return the warrior for defence and scout with my scout.

Opening Tech path: Hunting - Med - Mining - BW.
Opening Build path: Worker - Scout - Warrior - Warrior - Settler

Im thinking 2 warriors as i feel we are going to be very close to eathother in this game, also hence the early settler, i want that riverbed, esp if it has some resources nearby. i know it isnt optimal, but i am open to sudgestions Mania Muse smile

With no barbs the number of opening warriors really depends on how close your opponents are - fogbusting isn't really necessary. You could possibly keep the number of warriors you build flexible depending on how soon you meet other players. Getting an early religion could be quite a good move though even for purely denial purposes. Just be careful not to delay pottery too long.

Not alot happening, we are at T5, Warrior is about to head back home to guard against any unfortunet "ohh nice town - ill take it" moments from my fellow players. However that river site is looking very tempting:

Hunting is due in 3ish turns, worker in 6T.

Looks like a nice spot to spam cottages.

Also just noticed how Mecca will conveniently block off that bit of land when its borders expand. Some sort of lakes map perhaps?

To anyone still lurking this thread, my apoligies for not updating asmuch as i would have liked - this new job has me VERY tired once i get home and tbh im not able to both play the game and report on here as i would like atm.

Ok, first i will share some communication between myself and Mania muse afew nights ago Via PM:

ManiaMuse Wrote:Hi,

I just logged into the game to check how it's going. I didn't realise though that you researched meditation and got Budhism this turn so it came up with the pop up 'do you want to switch religion'. I wasn't sure what you wanted so I said no.

If you were planning on switching this turn then remember to do it, oh and also check your tech and build because they also came up with popups and I wasn't sure what you want but had to select something.

ManiaMuse

Yea, i have been neglecting my Lurker thread - sorry about that.

I have decided not to switch yet, mainly as i dont need the happy right now and if i get BW before i need it i will revolt then and save me a turn in anarchy.

Tech switched to Agri as i have camped both deer and the worker is going to get abit boored as he can only road ATM so Tech will be Agri, Pottery, AH, Minning, BW, Writing, Arch, HBR at a guess atm (VERY tired atm)

Build plan is Warrior, Temple (Hopfuly Size 4 after this), Worker, Settler, the Great unknown ;p

If you have any thoughts, Feel free to ask/ post in the Lurker thread - also if you see somthing you disagree with or just want to ask a Q then please do feel free to post it there - afterall somone has to post if i am somwhat neglecting it ;P

Adlain

No worries, I can't imagine how much time Lord Parkin and co spend reporting given how many posts there are in their tread already!

Seems reasonably solid though slightly confused by the temple in the build order. As you say you don't really need the happiness so are you planning to run a priest or something? A single priest would take ages to generate a prophet while this part of the game is really about fast expansion and avoiding getting killed. Personally I think more settlers/workers/warriors/even another scout would be a better option and you would be working unimproved tiles I think if you waited until size 3 before building a settler.

Also why pottery before AH when you have cows?

i was Mostly thinking Cottages, they take forever to grow into towns and i was thinking starting early. However i had (already) forgotten about those cows up north so i will switch them around

Temple is so i can train missionarys and not have to rely on natural spread and as such i felt would be more benificial early on than a Monument or Barracks. i will think about maybe swapping to building units instead of a temple - but i will sleep on it and think - we have 2T anyways till the warrior is due. (9T till Agri)

Suffice to say my playing this game half asleep ATM probably isnt helping things atm. I am hoping in the comming weeks i will be able to find a way to spend the time i want to play the game properly as i intended when i signed up but i hope that even now i will atleast be able to put up a decent effort ingame even if my reporting is naff. i have now explored a fair amount of map, and it is looking very warter heavy:

Current Plans:
  • Warrior in the North is heading SE
  • Warrior by capital is heading West to see if that land to my west is sealed off and thus safe to leave till later and "backfill"
  • Scout in the south continuing south

I have another Warrior camped in my Capital now aswell as defence against an oppertune attack

Build Plan:
  • City:Settler (8T)/ Worker/ Settler (maybe?)/ Warrior/ Granary/

Tentative Tech Plan:
  • Agri/ AH/ Pottery/ Mining/ BW/ Writing/ Archery

Don't worry too much about the limited reporting, I know what it's like starting a new job and just wanting to crash in the evenings!

And the last report is good with clear pictures. Maybe just try to do something like that every 5/10 turns or so. I think pictures are what lurkers want to see mostly!

Anyway looking quite good so far, you've got good exploration in all directions apart from SE and the land looks quite nice despite the food resources being a bit spread out.

As for your build/tech plan, you've got to take some risks so getting your 3rd city out quickly with a few chops could be worth it, especially with no barbs to kill your settlers!

Also, considering you haven't met anyone yet, it seems likely that the start locations are quite spaced apart so you might have a bit of leeway from an early rush.

As for your tech order, depending whether/when you meet your neighbors, you might want to consider getting archery before writing. A few protective archers could be a good deterrent to an early rush, especially if you settle hill cities.

An alternative could be to consider the Oracle since you are already a tech ahead of the other civs on the way to priesthood. Could be doable if you went straight to BW and got a couple of chops though on the other hand would sacrifice the other worker techs.
