I can't tell from the massive world map at the end if there was room for you to throw in a new city and culture bomb it to cover more of the neutral territory land tiles on the victory turn, but compared to your total score you can write off that much as a rounding error.
Very interesting read, and kudos for you having the patience to run a game like this.

Wouldn't help, it takes 20 turns before ownership of tiles is counted towards score, but it immediately counts towards domination land count.

The thought of a late artist bomb did occur to me. As Krill said, the land wouldn't score. What it could have done was grab extra tiles so that cavalry could reach more cities in that single turn. A size 10 city would be 7500 score and worth doing. But anyway, I didn't have a Great Artist, or any reliable way to produce one (GP cost counter was at 4500), and all the earlier ones had to go into Golden Ages.
The extreme version of long-distance conquering in a single turn is to eliminate all the defenders with missiles, then drop paratroopers to conquer the empty cities. Way too far on the tech tree for this, though.

Pretty sure you can't both drop the paratroopers and capture a city on the same turn: I tested that out in PBEM4.

Can't you do it if the city is undefended? For instance, nuke the city enough times to kill every unit in it, paradrop to the adjacent tile, and stroll in on the same turn? Admittedly, I haven't done a lot of modern era warmongering, so I'm probably wrong.

Yeah, but nuking the city kills most of its pop right? Makes it so you aren't getting much of a score boost from it (unless perhaps it has world wonders in it).

Paratroopers can't attack after dropping, but they can move to capture an empty city. Guided Missiles can kill units in a city.

BTW, I refreshed the calculator page with an update, putting in the numbers from my game, and including a little bit of extra explanation in response to a question that arose on Civfanatics.

In any other game where you aren't trying for maximum score, nuking would be more fun than using cruise missiles to empty the city

Congrats. Nice to see us crush CFC at their own game! (Breaking the SP game to the max is kinda the whole point of the CFC Mod. Now are you crazy enough to beat the BC Space Victory game?)
I'm just glad that you're not against me in any of my MP games.
