Epic One - Maniac's Report

@ - Sulla. Temu was one of my 2 best buddies yeah smile . He spent a good deal of time in Friendly land with me even (so did Gandhi). Alex was a good friend most of the game too, until Free Religion droped him to cautious.

The varient scoring system was developed to, well, be diffrent lol Had I known there would be this much war going on beforehand, I probably would have attempted to ride Genghis' friendship to a domination victory.

Annother original plan, which never came close to happening, was that I was going to play the "Other" Epic 1 and have a "Tale of 2 France's" Report. In the other game I planed to build no wonders and go for domination lol

I'll have more to say about oddities and such tuesday. Haven't had a chance to read others reports yet either, so I'll be doing that tues/wed as well.

Thanks for the comments. smile

You know Maniac, all things told, I'm jealous of you. I have realized that I am a builder at heart. As someone who loves to erect giant statues and buildings, I envy all the erections you had during your game. Although I'd think a cultural victory would fit your variant a little better than space.

A few more thoughts about your excellent game:

1. Anyone who says there are no AI-AI declarations is crazy! The amount of war in your game is just insane. I bet you just stayed out of all the wars because you didn't know which one the honorable ruleset allowed you to partake in. I know I lost track just reading your report.

2. Your Rheims was an uber city. There was definite [Image: smoke.gif] on my part in not putting a city up there.

3. Bravo for not fighting any major wars, and not capturing any Mongol or French cities. I think that stays more true to your variant.

4. Also impressive that you didn't get declared on for most of the game. Your military was clearly weak, with all the demands for tech and money. Hell, even Gandhi demanded something from you. Gandhi! He couldn't demand his way out of a paper (lunch sack) bag.
("Sack lunch.So d'you think they got shrunk down, or is it just a giant sack?")

5. So what was your score according to your variant? Inquiring minds want to know!

@ Speaker - in no particular order tongue

5 - I'm working on it. Sorry. I've been goofing off by vidcaming with an old friend of mine (my new labtop came with one and i had to test it tongue ). Besides, Ayin is so cute I couldn't resist lol (hope my gf doesn't read this)

1/3 - I allways get lots of AI wars. Actually, I had a scoring penalty for capruing non barb cities. I wanted to rely on my own econ as much as possible. I've allwyas been an econ first player *shrug* And yeah, the wars were nuts. I flirted with being a conquere with Genghis (hey, I didn't have to stick to my variant... I WAS tempted by the darkside)

2 - Rheims rocked. Turned out to be in a 3 way tie for best non capital with Orleans and Anasazi (who says barbs can't dotmap??)

4 - This is normal. I've gotten delared on like 4 times in 16 games. Seriously. I freaked when Monty declared. No one ever declares on me because I'm too valuable as a trading partner. The games I HAVE gotten declared on were the ones where i got bottled up with little land and resources.

I know I've been promising the replay screens and such, and expected to get them up tonite, but I've just had way too much to do frown They'll get done when/if I have the time. Sorry to anyone who's been hanging out waiting for them. Briefly on my scoring system, I can say I got all but 95 points (not counting *bonus* points from flipping, which I didnt get)

Wonders - I built every wonder except:

The 6 Religious Shrines for which I was not the founder of the religion - minus 30pts (btw - neither India, which had 5 religions, nor GW who had Confucianisim, ever built a shrine!)
Notre Dame - Couldn't get the Tech fast enough - minus 20pts
The Pyramids - Got too wraped up building the other wonders - minus 10pts
Spiral Minaret - Aztecs Rushed it a turn or 2 after getting the tech - minus 10pts
Three Gorges - NO RIVER
Kremlin - Expired before I got the tech
(So yes, the only wonders/projects NOT in france were Pyramids, Notre Dame, and Spiral Minaret)

Projects - Perfect Score smile

Small Wonders - I built them all except:

West Point - Didn't have a unit with enough experience - 5 points

IF I got my math right that means:

19 Regular wonders = 190 pts
Versailles = 40pts
Eiffel tower = 20pts
Hindu Shrine = 5pts
2 World Projects = 20 pts
2 National Projects = 10pts
12 National Wonders - 60pts
Casings = 5pts
Thrusters = 6pts
Single parts x5 = 25pts
Final score = 381 of a possible 476

Considering that there were really only 5 points (maybe 15... maybve I could have gotten they Pyramids....) that I lost that I had any controll over (Kremlin), I can't say That I'm at all unhappy with the result. PErhaps The religious shrines shouldnt have counted? Thats 1/3 of my lost points.

I must say I'm pretty happy with the score, though, and doubit it could have been beaten (though you never know).

- Maniac

Edit: And if you are wondering, there were no penalties from the penalties section smile
