Did you know that if you found on a plains hill, you get an extra hammer on your city tile?

Yes I am perfectly aware of that, however it is not on fresh water, so I can only grow the city to a size of 2 before it becomes unhealthy.

EDIT: I think you meant the one I was standing on. Sorry I didn't notice that as it was late in the night. However I did not start with fishing as a tech and I had already started with Agriculture. That settling somewhere where I could work the corn was a better idea. Not only that, the wet corn itself is already a better tile than the fish tile.

Okay guys here an update on what has happened, Demo's incase anyone is interested
So the

research path for me right now is hunting into pottery, so I can put some cottages down on those flood plains tile. So after the worker I'm most likely going to build into a second worker, grow to size 2, then second settler

I will say that I did cringe to see that you didn't settle on the plains hill 1W. It makes a massive difference off the line.

Does it really make that much of a difference that I can't grow beyond size 3 without getting unhealthy?

but regardless i'm more of a micro/builder person, than a warmonger.

Size 3 is it that low on Monarch? I see only 2 floodplains but 7 forests,....

Anyway, you have the corn + granary for +2 health + deer and your unique building gives you +2 happy and +2 health. Also, even if you run into unhealthy well the first unhealthy is -1F which matches the +1 hammer so you're no worse off.

So yes, you should have built on the plains hill. Can't help that now.

This is going to be a bit of a tough game. 5 of the leaders are financial in a no-tech trading game.

Your leader is pretty decent for a non-financial but I'm not so sure about the UU and UB. The UU is really effective if we're the first ones to gunpowder but that's going to be a tough sell with Huyana, Darius, Elizabeth, Mansa, Victoria around. We'll have to really push hard to leverage this unit landing those creative libraries and organized courthouses.

I believe that you lose 1H per turn if you chop the deer forest by the way.

So why pottery? Floodplains I presume.

Yes, I am getting the pottery to cottage the flood plains, you can put camp's on top of forests as well, so I won't be likely to chop that forest.

I do think the UB will be very helpful in this circumstance as I only see 1 happiness resource we can use, in the starting area. Also I think we can use the UU to conquer a backwards opponent and use their area to propel us to a winning position.

I'm most likely going to settle my second city on the spot that I marked northwest of my captial, then I will likely settle another city west of my third city. Fourth city is going down in the spot I marked south of my capital

It seems like I have a lot of room to the north of me, i'm thinking of pushing west with my cities that is most likely where my rivals are at. One more thing, how do I change the name of my empire?
