Yeah, I'll sign up, seeing as I said I was available. I'll make one last suggestion, don't pick a power civ/leader, e.g. Pacal of Maya, but don't short change yourself, e.g. Native Americans, either.
Goals, map-type, etc. I'll leave to Dhalphir, though I suggest vassal states off (if only to lose the diplo and "colony" maintenance headaches).

If you want a game experience more relevant to our typical MP games you should play with No Tech Trading. Tech Brokering and general AI manipulation is important in high level SP play but not in MP play.
I have to run.

well, this is great! We have three confirmed and one who can participate at least at the start. I'll wait another day or so and see if we can find one other unlucky soul, then I'll roll a start. What's the etiquette on that, do I roll multiple starts and we choose which one we want, or just roll one and it's luck of the die?
EDIT: I think I will leave tech trading on - I"m not so much looking to emulate MP as to practise focusing my play, thinking carefully, that kind of thing, and I've only ever played a couple of games on Prince and none on Monarch so I'd rather not take away one of the ways a human can catch up to cottage-mad AIs on tech. If someone else playing wants to chime in, feel free, I don't have my heart set on doing it this way or anything.

Tech Trading on low difficulty levels is not necessary to win, and enabling it means AIs will trade with each other making trading with them more necessary.

What NH said. I think if you're trying to improve your play regarding civ management rather than abusing the AI then No Tech Trading is essential, especially for Monarch (I'm currently trying to do this in SP myself). Strategy with TT on can revolve around beelining for Alphabet, then simply checking which AI's you've met will trade something else that you want, instad of backtracking. "Free" techs, basically. At higher difficulty levels, abusing AI stupidity might be considered more of a necessity.

Well I think I'd be up for it. Is this regular BTS, RB mod, or some other mod?

Should we pick up leaders first?
