why not just stage in Jamba Juice? You could even have them gethering up in Domino's until the turn before they need to be staged ... or split 50/50 north and south, but in range of Jamba Juice.
... or just move them to the edge of Commodore's territory on the turn peace runs our somewhere that they can fork far to the north or south. You'll loose maybe a turn of unit production that can get onto those boats, but those can still be used in defending your heartland.

However, it all comes crashing down if he pushes forward with Frigates and is able to hit the staging tile. If he gets 2 turns to take shots at us, the plan is a lot less attractive. Unless we manage to stage there when we're still at peace and move first on the following turn, but with Commodore's seeming ability to login instantaneously upon turns rolling, I'm not crazy about staking our plan on a login race (or even playing like that to begin with).
We can either get around that by
1) keeping the galleons further back and waiting for him to make his first move
2) advancing on the last turn of peace
I like 1 better because if he commits his offensive force to defense, then we won't do much damage. But then we have to figure out how to get him to attack the south and not at Dominos or Jamba Juice

Maybe use your extra settler to build a city on the 3-tile island between you and commodore?

Clearly what we should do is raze Commodore's border city and then gift the settler to Serdoa.

Oh wait...
Definately a Losing Proposition.

If I gift the settler to anybody it'll be slowcheetah and hope that along with Rheims keeps him off our backs in the short term. But I'd rather use the settler tactically somehow

Sorry scooter, I am pretty despondent about our situation. Commodore is bringing in privateers; I imagine he's going to park those off our coast and inside our borders. We could pick them off as they arrive but we'll be trading a galleon for every privateer we kill.
I started a golden age and swapped to Caste again. Whipped a few things, maybe whipped too many. I should give a real report...

Lovely. Yeah this game has been really fun at times, but it has just kind of exhausted me since basically every turn is a war turn, and every turn that goes by we are more outdated.
Side note: sure is good Slowcheetah didn't think to attack his neighbor without Astro (Plako) or Commodore didn't think to attack his neighbors without Astro (Serdoa or Bigwyn). Serdoa in particular would have been incredibly vulnerable. I do get the appeal of targeting us, it's just annoying.

All right, i'm openly inviting lurker ideas here: with sudden doom apparent on all sides (slowcheetah's large stack in Paris has left, and enforced peace is almost up...), what are some ideas on how to make the end at least fun to play? I realize this is unorthodox so i'm looking for outside-the-box thinking

Find a new neighbor territory to annex?
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
