I teched masonry. I think I want to tech poly>Mono>monarchy so that we can revolt into OR+HR. We really need happy. and with copper trading we can build MP warriors.
4h built the city but they got a spear and an axe into... bummer. The city is 9 tiles from their capital. Its actually closer to ours than theirs.
Seven has an archer north of Lilly so I'm sending a settler and axes up that way.
Going to 3 pop whip a settler settler in Willow since it was about to grow into its second unahappy and we need a settler for the dyes west of Lemonade. Need to hurry. I'm feeling like we're just not moving fast enough. Need more settlers and more army to hold it.
I'm going to build markets in Joao and no libraries since its not going to tech. And I will avoid building markets in Darius land because it should run full science all the time. Plus it needs to build more military... no time for markets.

Okay feeling better this turn. I have two settlers on their way to the vorders with Smack and I think we should be able to secure dyes and bananas.
Last turn I realized that the happy cap need to rise for us to move forward. But I incorretly assumed HR would be the way to do that. Now I realized we have a city planted on incense and 2 sources of spices readily available. Last turn we researched Masonry, but that wasn't a waste because we needed it. However I've switched course to Calandar and I believe that is the correct move. It will take us only 3 turns and we get an instant +1 happy with another +1 happy soon after.
After calendar we need to chop out the jungle to defend our cities against Smack. Thus IW after Calaendar. Smack also has catapults now. There is one in Lemonade. So I believe tech:
Calandar>IW>Construction>Poly>Mono>Monarchy
I could be pursuaded to do Construction before IW and indeed, in two turns I will weigh those options based on what I see.
Darius is way ahead in #1 crop. Joao is behind in 8. However Joao is about to hook up deer, wet corn, and crabs in the next 3 turns.
Our city across the sea looks to be safe no sign of 4h units and as long as they don't move into view this turn we'll be good.
I'm going to get a chariot to explore across the sea. I see wine in the coast just need a food source. Also theres silver that I just missed when I settled the first city across the sea.
I want to give pics, so I'm going to look into how I can do it on this compy.

Construction before IW, I think. Mackoti is a bit restless:
If it's a mirrior-ish, then H-Team has to walk a long way to hit the west landmass, or else get a galley like us. Darius absolutely needs to settle more, though...I laughed at the sheer fecundity of even the least of his cities:
Here's the whole empire(s), spoilered for size.

jeez. He must have used his cats plus a bunch of units to kill off those fortified axes and spear that were there. Ridiculous.

Inn any case that is not ideal at all. We need to whip units in case Mack decides to use those roads to move into our area.

Well, sacrificing the chariot to pillage buys a turn.

In which direction though?

West, if we go that route...they go east, they still need two turns to get into nasty range.

I'm going to finish Calandar since we need it and we've already sunk a lot into. Plus we'll be fine. We'll have 6 axes built in the next two turns. I did cut the road SW of them, so we'll lose that chariot. But we may lose out on our settling those dyes, which is a pretty big blow we have to make sure we get at least 1 dye in the East.
Speaking of, They have an archer on the jungle hill which is annoying. its probably a good place to build the city. I was planning on 1 E but that is flat land and much less defensible. Also I just realized that they are fucking Rome. WTF. Not good. I'm not sure we can hold that city against full strength Praets and cats. If we could plant on the hill, maybe. But I'm not wasting an axe to dislodge their archer.
Honestly, thi sis going to be a huge pain in the ass. I'm going to just keep building axes and sending them. Nothing else I can do. Maybe get city walls, but that city is going to be a shit jungle city until IW. It may not be a good idea to plant it until we have at least 3-4 axes there... and cats. That means that settler might sit.
The settler from Willow is going to settle our filler city east of Bristle which is good. Lots of cottages for that city too.
Rome... Godamnit. I wasn't really thinking about their civs when we did the snake pick, but Sumeria and Rome were pretty stellar early land grabbing by military force picks.
