I agree with stating that the stone and spice gift are part of the agreement. I'd also spell out Non Agression Pact instead of using an abbreviation with which they may not be familiar.

Total brainfart. Fixed.

Draft to Spanish Apolyton Wrote:Thanks for the explanation! Unfortunately we are bound to a non-aggression pact with CFC, so we cannot declare war on them. Otherwise it might be fun! Don't worry - we will not tell them of your plans smile. Also, we already have a deal with CFC where we are giving them Spices and Stone. I thought you should know that we agreed on that before you told us of your plans - we are not trying to help them against you!

Good luck!

Yeah, spelling out NAP sounds like a good idea.

I'm not going to spell out what a NAP is - that would be incredibly condescending. NAP is super common in basically all types of games - not just Civ.

But then we can no longer call it a NAP agreement...

I have to run.

Not trying to undercut your authority or discount the great work you've done so far, but I'm not so sure.

Well, wikipedia is weird. Just write "non-aggression pact" instead of "NAP."

Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Bah - just give them that link and tell them we are referring to definition #21.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I agree with this... unless CFC is unfortunate enough to swap to Rep/Caste before the war starts. Then it might be very hard for them to mount a defense.

Long term, CFC will win regardless... but the damage could be more than we'd expect. The chances of this outcome seem like they go up if S.Poly delays their attack, right?
