Intersite Game - Turn Discussion Thread

The ruleset (thankfully, IMO) has the following paragraph:

Quote:f. Bugs and Exploits - The use of any bug or exploit is not allowed. The decision about exactly what constitutes a bug or exploit rests solely with the admin. Consult with the admin if any action you are considering may be a bug or exploit.

So, I'd suggest consulting with the admin. I have no idea what he will say. Historically I believe such things have been permitted at CFC, though I'm not sure.

I personally hope we on RB don't start using this in all our games. It gives strong benefits that I believe are undesirable, and at the same time it sounds tedious as all hell to use.

Yes, I agree. Better consult with rolo on this one. (That would be a job for Parkin, I guess.)
If he rules that this is not usable, I think I will have to step down from discussing this game, since I know.
Until clarification, I'd suggest nobody else tries this in the ISDG3.
The big problem with this exploit is, that you cant really control its use.
And it's not tedious at all.

Honestly, I haven't seen this exploit being mentioned anywhere else. I might be the one that discovered it. :neenernee

Also, it's mostly usable when you have a faint idea of where a city might be. It can also give false positives with forts.

When in doubt, ask the admin.

I like Sullla's plan, it seems like planting in any other spot is inferior to this.

Ask the admin if you want. I have no doubt that Sommerswerd will use this trick and anything else to his advantage. I wouldn't have a problem with this.

If we are rules-lawyering here, we can claim that we aren't doing an "action" - there is no in-game effect of any of this. But that is entering heavily into rules-lawyering territory.

Conspiracy theory time: I wonder if this is what CivFr was doing on the first turn when they "misclicked" with their settler?

I am more worried, that a two warrior opening is less weedy if you know exactly where to send those warriors. Suer early choking strategies are a lot more efficient if you don't have to wander the wilds endlessly hoping to find a border.

My fear is that once this is known (if it is not already) there is zero chance people will refrain from using it.
Given the whole mistrustful atmosphere in which this particular game was set up, I must admit I have no problems with us using this knowledge to our advantage.

I think we should use it. It's use cannot be regulated, checked or controlled. If CFC know this, they'll be 100% using it. I'd bet Gaspar's house on it.

I agree. It is fine by me. No different than deducing the number of tiles on the map from using the pathing into the fog.
