I think regular pausing is not good idea in pitboss games. Pausing is so easy to forget and causes trouble when trade screen is open.
Long enough timer is in my opinion best alternative. It also goes fast assuming that everyone is ending their turns early so that next team knows to act.
I would also suggest trying sequential pitboss since I've underestood it would enable all team members acting simultaneously. Not totally sure about this though so it needs to be tested.
