Yeah, yeah, I forgot that people are scum and slow.
I grabbed Ventessel on Discord, he said he will play the turn within the hour.

I'm glad I happened to pick this thread by random, now I can deadlurk on what promises to be an interesting start!
I wonder if all positions got such a possible insane second city location? is that typical of mirrored starts?

Is there any point in the whole history of RB where a PYFT war sped things up?
the original PYFT war in FFH XI eventually sped things up.
eliminated players cant slow the game down.

Welcome I don't know if everyone did, but I think that if everyone has such a great second city location then the map is reinforcing a lack of choice, as it is too good a city location to just give up to an opponent (strat resources not withstanding). And I don't think 4 six yield tiles and double metal happy in a single location can ever be considered typical...

Dead Ventessel is all the breathing space I'm going to need. CHM/AGG is slow, but once I get up and running I can ignore Calendar and Monarchy, early HE would then cover the production issues and everything else is just about filling in space and growing pop. So once I reach the point where killing Ventessel is possible I need to fucking do it.

Scout survived at 0.4 health. I've let it heal, if in a few turns a barb doesn't turn up from the NW I'm going to move it to the plains hill over there and see what's what. Worker finishes eot, Mining end of next turn. Still only one city at size 2, I believe that there should be something like 3 pop growths next turn, the EXP players.

Early barb battles are always such a nail biter for me. Even at good odds sometimes the RNG just hates you.

Meh, scouting is important but scouts just die to quickly to be useful.
I want Commodore to sub for Ventessel!

Deep scouting is interesting on this map though, now that you say that. If the players start contesting the choke point areas it should be possible to move the scout between players without putting them at too much risk of barbs...hmm. And a 15 hammer scout is definitely a cheaper way to open up all the known tech bonuses, given that other requirements would be a scouting galley, and any galley I build is going to be used ideally just for islands.
