Also, I apparently accidentally researched Iron Working last turn. I had it on IW at max science so I could do GNP-checks to see how many people had various techs, but forgot to turn it off.

I think I'll go ahead and 1t Compass this turn. I have plenty of health, but 22h (with EXP, OR and Forge) for a harbor that will give 2 commerce per turn (multiplied by libraries and/or markets) seems like a pretty good deal.

I did check and I will get the bonus (moving from 3 coin to 4 coin) for every city except my Size 15 Moai city, which is already at 4cpt and won't go to 5 (yet)

In other news, Gaspadore teched Alphabet last turn so I could confirm his actual techs researched. My spreadsheet was up to date except I had him with Polytheism instead of Masonry.

He is up on me: Meditation, Alphabet, Compass, Horseback Riding, Machinery
I am up on him: Polytheism, Monotheism, Code of Laws, Civil Service, Feudalism

Net I am up on him 350 beakers, plus if I finish Compass this turn (which I have coin to do), that will make me up 762 beakers.

T90: City founded
T90: Worker arrived and started farming corn
T92: Workboat nets fish
T94: Missionary spreads Judaism (1 galley chain involved)

So I think the borders will pop in time for me to mine the copper after the worker farms the corn, mines the gems and roads the gems.

You seem to be missing "chop granary" in here somewhere.

I'm going to whip the granary when it grows to size 2 in ~3t (or maybe when it grows on to a non-improved tile)

Looks great! You whip the granary on the first possible turn which happens to be the turn you get Judaism. You grow to size 2 t95, size 3 t96, size 4 t97. I guess the fourth pop whips the lighthouse since there's nothing else for it to do.

Yeah - maybe forge whipped before lighthouse though since it will probably only be the fish tile that we work. The chop will come in at some point too

Forge before lighthouse saves you only about 6h on the lighthouse. That's worth like 3 turns of lighthouse food boost. So for this to be worth it you'd have to whip the forge and lighthouse within 3t of when you could have whipped the lighthouse which is as soon as you reach size 4 (not going to happen). Unless you think there are going to be whip anger issues.

For most of my cities, I have been whipping granary, then putting the overflow into the forge, but then whipping the LH at size 4 (swapping to it a turn before growth). Probably doesn't really matter compared to just a strict granary -> LH -> forge build path.

As for whip anger issues, sure there will be, but that hasn't stopped me yet. I'm actually trying to stay off the whip as I have 3-4 unhappies in a few cities lol

Been awhile since I updated (again). Not a whole lot going on.

I did want to share my dumbness though, so Krill could make fun of me.

So I was planning on settling a filler city here, but I had a few spare worker turns so I dropped a worker off on the city square, so he could chop it before I planted. It's only 6 hammers but I figured every little bit helps. But I didn't really realize that my settler was coming on so soon. What I SHOULD have done was unloaded the worker on the silks tile, so he could have chopped the granary. Instead, I didn't chop the city center tile, AND I chopped the granary late.

Oh well.

After Civil Service, I accidentally researched Iron Working, and decided to follow that up with Compass, for cheap harbors (2 commerce each). After saving gold for a bit, I have researched Aesthetics, Meditation and Literature over the last few turns. I am building Shwetty Paya, so I don't have to research Theology. Pindicator just bulbed Theology and he is going to build the AP for Buddhism. I will be building University of Sankore. Pindicator is trading me his gold for Paya for my gems. Still haven't seen any silver hooked up by any other players.

I will be getting a mixed bag GP at the end of next turn, so I thought I'd check what they would bulb.

Prophet (50%) - Theology
Scientist (10%) - (Alphabet) / Philosophy (or Education after I research Paper)
Merchant (10%) - (Alphabet) / Paper / Guilds
Engineer (30%) - Machinery / Guilds

I think prophet or merchant I'll use / save for a golden age. Engineer maybe Great Library? Scientist I'll probably save to bulb Education, though I could use him for an Academy also.

Since I'm the first one up the frou frou path, I'll be grabbing the Artist from Music. I'd imagine that I'll probably use him for a golden age, either now or soon or later. I do have research visibility on yuris125 - he just finished Aesthetics right now. His economy is .... not doing well. He has about 280 gold in expenses at max science (vs. 240 for me). But at max tax, I make 140 gold and he makes about 70.

It was interesting - yuri was on Metal Casting, but after Pindicator just finished the Mausoleum, yuri swapped to Aesthetics - we're thinking he was going for MoM and just wants to build a wonder.
