Yeah, I have to say that RtR changes probably need to be scaled back a bit, several times over the course of this game I had a thought that this is just too far from civ.

I like having the +1 culture on barracks, though. Otherwise 60 hammers (non-AGG) makes them pretty hard to justify building until later in the game. Maybe some other effect should be added to monuments? Maybe +2 culture instead of +1? That way they could be used to pop borders faster, or to fight a culture war? Although the rival civ could just as easily build a +2 culture monument to combat yours. In the SMEG version of the mod Krill tested in (PB26? I don't remember) one game the buildings effects were largely overhauled, mostly too much, but maybe there's some small change that could make monuments more viable without having to take away the barracks culture, which works well IMO.

Barracks were 50 hammers in base game. And yes, they were still non-trivial to build early for a non-agg civ which worked to strengthen agg trait.

Barracks culture is unthematic, and in terms of gameplay it takes away a key trade-off between peaceful development and aggression, a trade-off which Agg trait is meant to make interesting, not erase! Barracks culture was mostly put in to boost Agg, I really think we should find another way, something that makes the military development alternative in it own right, rather than something that erases the distinction between alternatives. Free units maintenance (scalable), maybe even gold production to Barracks (for Agg leaders), just not a replacement for a key piece of early city infrastructure.

Nicola Tesla was born. HAK is going to build Pyramids for someone, just as I predicted. We are considering making some failgold by putting a turn into mids in Construction. That will be about 100 gold which is a pretty big deal.

This is just so shitty: 6 hours ago it was 11 hours on the timer and just four people to play. Since then most of them have posted, sometimes repeatedly, in their threads. Two of the teams logged in, one repeatedly, over the course of these hours. All four are still to play.
