done, please tell if I missed something though. Will update if Lewwyn discloses map dimensions and world wrap. Yes I'm assuming normal speed as a given, but listed it in the settings.

Hey guys, I'd appreciate it if you didn't put your picks in the thread title until everybopdy has locked in their picks. The spoiler which options are gone is mild (not if everbody did it), but still.

Emperor + Huge gives some really expensive early tech costs, Wheel is 108b vs 89b on a standard/monarch map. Are we sure we want this? I'll play either way but it wasn't what I was expecting.

I’m fine with the higher than normal costs and would prefer that we stick with emperor + huge settings

Excuse this poor noob. Huge reduces maintenance on cities right? That should help cancel out some that later on? (I fear I'm going into spoiler territory). In any case I'm willing to do whatever smarter people than me deem is best.
As for difficulty - people voted for Emperor, so that is set (note I voted Monarch, but no overthrowing votes talk outside of the politics forum allowed)

Emperor won the settings vote almost 2-1, and presumably voters expected 25 players would use a Huge map (even if Lewwyn can manually edit the settings). I'm with you, TBS: having certain civs dead from Turn 0 due to tech costs was my least favorite part of PB88, but folks voted pretty decisively here.

PB88 is played on Deity, not Emperor. A 19b difference on Wheel (which is the most expensive tech) is certainly significant, but it will be smaller for the other starting techs and I would not describe this difference as putting civs in the dead from turn 0 category if they would not otherwise be that way.
I also think this is a good opportunity for people to think about these kinds of differences and how they can affect the game and what choices are optimal, rather than considering it to be an invariant part of the game. If you do not use the settings that are appropriate for the map, tech costs will be too cheap later and there will be a significant downside to that. That's why you end up with bad situations such as the tech rate being far too fast in the late game, and it's not because inflation is too low.
