[SPOILERS!] Pericles of Babylon. Kyan, Twinkletoes, Whosit.

Superb, we've shot up in score recently thanks to growing +mining. No last place for us jive Yes, i know it's early days.

BW research times will drop as soon as mine is active due to the +1 commerce also. Good times.

Hmm. This sounds familiar. smile

Times like this the Imperialistic Trait would be nice, with so many hammers going into the Settler. At least it hurry up a lil' bit when the mine is done.

Speaking of: Post a sign to remind you to switch to the mine on Turn 26! Maybe you guys are better about it than me, but I often forget about in-progress improvements until the turn after (when the Worker becomes active again).

Turn rolled. Not a lot exciting except:

Demographics. I like those numbers. Our food is only 1 shy of the average- and we're building a farm soon.

We've got a clear lead on the power front. Shows how worker heavy everyone is going. Our gold is also joint 2nd with only 1 point behind the leaders which is going to change when the mine is finished.

When mine is done we'll likely still be top of production (as we'll have increased ours even further, as well as joint top gold and most likely joint top power. I'm very happy with that start for a bunch of newbies jive

Turn (finally) Rolled

Well 'Watchman Hill' was finally climbed and I think has discovered a pretty decent city 3/4 spot.

Put on 'Watchman Hill' which is a plains hill, we get hammer bonus, corn and Calendar resource in original borders and grassland river tiles when the first borders pop. Along with that, a HUGE amount of forest to chop.

If we could fit a second settler in before we start building the Oracle (which is possible), then if it has access to Marble we could use this city to build the Oracle and chop as much forest as possible to rush it?

You guys know better but I think this idea could well be sound.

Here are latest demographics:

And foreign news: 2 cities are at size 3 now. But we are on the Top 5 List!! jive

Ended Turn - no actual moves to do!

I lack the time to comment in-depth at the moment, but I'd rather settle 1SE of the hill so as to be next to the river. Health bonus, plus the option of a Levee down the road. Of course, some additional scouting will be required to see if that's the best option, but as a personal preference, I settle adjacent to rivers whenever possible/practical.

Banshee is going to head north now, right? To start guarding the route to Exodus.

Thanks for update TT. We have a bit more time to play with before defogging. I would like to move south 1 more tile with Banshee first. The reason being is that is a flood plains tile in the south. (you can see it with tile bleeding). By moving south we can see a lot more terrain and maybe spot more floodplains. In the team battleground maps, there are big rivers with floodplains running thru them- these rivers contain lots of floodplains either side.

I still think that the desert has been most likely grassed over but if those rivers still exist they will be PERFECT for our specialist economy. It's worth 1 turn just to gather some more info.

We'll reply later today with some more thoughts on the map, tech trading, and further co-operation between our two civs.

New turn played and i took the gamble with Banshee and it paid off:

LOTS of flood plains. At last we have some good food tiles. I still think we're drastically short of them. Within any decent range of our capital we have:

plains cow
plains sheep
dry rice
dry corn

and by pulling a pink dot we also get a...

*drumroll*

grass hill pigs

If everyone else has this the same, then fair enough BUT it makes a specialist economy hard to run and it definitely limits players options within the game.

However, enough being negative. Our borders popped and revealed the river going further east. Meaning the river to our south is either a seperate one or meanders like crazy! Some nice fertile land that way if we happen to find some more food.

Immediate double-post. I have had a change of opinion regarding the map. I no longer think sullla edited the desert out. He would have to remove the tundra to keep it fair but i suppose the desert could easily have been left.

If that's correct then we are in the northern hemisphere and have floodplains riddled desert to our south.

OK, fine, nice decision to scout south a bit more. smile Looking at this, I'd just as soon settle on that hill 2 south of Banshee, depending somewhat on what's there.

I think this is one big river. If you look closely, you can see it turn south at the edge of our visibility (to the east).

When moving Banshee back, go 1NW, 1NW. We'll uncover two tiles that way.
