WarlordDr is all but dead. His second city needs to claim either the northern copper or the southern horses to counter plako's aggression instead of apparently heading towards an otherwise awesome gold+food site. War is inevitable in any case, though it will now be a short one.

Good, his diplo has been terrible, and I can't believe he would get involved in a game here and not start a thread.

From what I read on the signup thread is that warlord was asked to join this game. What is more interesting, to me, is plako's brilliant play that along with his copper fortune has put him a commanding position. Diplomacy matters, and plako's border agreement with Gaspar/Nakor allows a full press on warlordDr without giving up anything long term. Before the game people thought that plako would get squeezed, instead he'll be dominating. Bruindane Wrote:WarlordDr is all but dead. His copper is 7788ish of his capital. He will be having trouble holding that new city against a single axe, never mind 2.

I have to run.
The fact that Warlord suddenly became more talkative the turn he finished BW should probably have set off some bells in Plako's head. The copper is awkwardly placed, but surely he must've seen in by now with 4 warriors milling around....
Nicolae Carpathia Wrote:Also, what are the combat odds of an axe vs a warrior in a city? Pretty rough. The capital will be at +40% culture in about a dozen turns, and on a hill. So we get, as a best-case scenario: 5 str + 50% vs. 2 + 40% cult + 25% City + 25% Hill + 25% Fortification That's 5 str vs. 3.3 str (the 50% cancels with 50% defensive bonuses). The axe wins 90.4% of the time, and averages 56HP when it wins. Also, that's enough XP for the Axe to promote once and heal up half the damage. The new city...remove 40% culture, and it gets to 99% odds right away. That's assuming full fort, and a hill settlement. Locke Wrote: Is this the best spot for a second city? Fast copper's always good, and that gives them a food resource in first ring. If I was Cre, I'd settle 1NW of where they did, and get the Rice and Corn. The lack of forests is a problem, too, but with 5/0/1 Rice and 1/5 copper, the city will be productive soon, and lots of 4-->2 whips will keep it quite efficient. |
