RBPBEM FfH V [SPOILERS] Sareln of the Amurites

Uh, don't you want to trade with the most overlapping map first? That way the subsequent people get less information?

Kind of. You're right though, I should trade in Major-Power -> Minor-Power order if at all possible. So Bob -> Iskender -> Serdoa -> Squareleg.

I'm also tempted to add a "do not trade maps with Tredje until there is peace" clause to the map trade...

Chat with Squareleg: He's definitely interested in the map. We swap notes about both Bob and Tredje
Quote:(4:28:31 PM) Squareleg: hey sareln - you got a min?
(4:28:42 PM) Sareln: sure
(4:28:44 PM) Sareln: what's up?
(4:29:26 PM) Squareleg: Just wanted to say that I'm interested in a map trade - especially if I get it after you get Bob/Sidar map if posisble! smile
(4:30:19 PM) Squareleg: I was trying to get bob to research up to sailing the other day but he wouldn't bite - be nice if he could have sunk a son or 2 in transit!
(4:34:29 PM) Sareln: yeah
(4:34:48 PM) Sareln: iirc correctly, Bob insinuated that the Clan blackmailed a longish-term NAP out of him with their wolf-rider earlier in the game
(4:35:04 PM) Sareln: though TBH, that could just be smoke and he signed it because he wanted to :P
(4:35:21 PM) Squareleg: yep - he said to me that he couldn't disclose the details of his nap
(4:35:29 PM) Sareln: so at least he's being consistent.
(4:35:38 PM) Squareleg: but in doing so confirmed there was one!
(4:35:39 PM) Sareln: But yeah, OO would seem to be a good choice for clowns
(4:35:45 PM) Sareln: funny how that works right?
(4:36:01 PM) Sareln: it's like if I'm told not to say something? do you say "no comment" if the person straight up asks you?
(4:36:07 PM) Sareln: or do you hem and haw and try and duck around it?
(4:36:07 PM) Squareleg: yep - either that or CoE for twin casting archmage heros...
(4:36:17 PM) Squareleg: yep
(4:36:20 PM) Sareln: that'd be pretty nasty
(4:36:30 PM) Squareleg: btw the way - I confronted tredje about the sons
(4:36:45 PM) Sareln: did he spit out anything useful?
(4:36:57 PM) Sareln: we're not really on speaking terms for some strange reason :D
(4:37:07 PM) Squareleg: just a sec
(4:37:28 PM) Squareleg:
Quote:me: So I am just going to come out with it: How are the Sons? wink
Tredje: What Sons? innocent face
me: heh I dind't think that you only got a couple of gobbo archers from your world spell not after I did a WB test anyway
Tredje: Maybe we got lots of Archers?
me: maybe - but I ain't buying it - why else would you esearch what you have? I just hope you don't come my way - I've had enough of war! smile
(4:38:08 PM) Squareleg: so in answer to your question.... no - not really! smile
(4:38:20 PM) Sareln: heh, fair enough
(4:38:37 PM) Sareln: it's one heckuva a bug
(4:38:57 PM) Sareln: so much so, that when I went to fix it for Paring, I found that Tholal (Better Naval AI) had beat me to it...
(4:39:00 PM) Squareleg: looks like they just gave the sons loyalty expecting it to fix it...
(4:39:05 PM) Sareln: heh, yeah
(4:39:15 PM) Sareln: that only solves the "steal with command units" problem
(4:39:32 PM) Squareleg: why not just get rid of the orc promo
(4:40:43 PM) Sareln: it's given automatically to all untyped units that the barbarian player builds/gets
(4:40:57 PM) Sareln: there is no human race
(4:41:07 PM) Sareln: so the sons automatically get orc
(4:41:35 PM) Squareleg: ah - i dind't know that
(4:41:39 PM) Sareln: I suspected it
(4:41:44 PM) Sareln: took some testing to figure it out :D
(4:42:20 PM) Sareln: as far as bugfixing goes, Tholal just threw in a checker for sons and disciples to exclude them.
(4:43:24 PM) Squareleg: heh - I'm not programmer but that sounds a lot easier! wink
(4:43:57 PM) Sareln: it is
(4:44:53 PM) Squareleg: I'm gonna grab some sleep - catch you soon - let me know about the map trade as and when.
(4:45:09 PM) Sareln: Yeah, I'm landing education first obv
(4:45:13 PM) Sareln: but then probably dead on
(4:45:17 PM) Sareln: I'll get a timeline to you.
(4:45:19 PM) Sareln: ttyl!

Note: Per Worldbuilder Tests, World-Features COUNT for my world-spell as far as "Improved Mana Nodes" are considered. However, Ice Mana is NEVER counted (not in the list)

As of right now then, with all world features enabled, my world spell is worth 4 XP to each of my arcane units, due to the following world features:

  1. Tomb of Sucellus
  2. Broken Sepulcher
  3. Mirror of Heaven
  4. Standing Stones

If Ice mana was included in the mana types, then Letum Fridgus would also give my units +1 XP on worldspell cast.

Did I miss any mana-granting features?

Pyre of the Seraphic? Has that been popped?

Good catch, It totally slipped my mind. The spell works by asking the map for the number of typed nodes it has, not how many node-improvements there are. Therefore, it does not matter whether or not the dungeon has been popped. My worldspell is worth 5 XP / arcane unit right now.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. I want to improve one of my already experienced warriors by clearing out the barb goblin running around in my jungle and take him out with the warrior sent to "soften" him up at 70% odds. Gives me another 7XP warrior to play with, I'm not complaining. jive

Growing the capital, building a mage guild, move the workers south, on the next turn they'll be able to build a mine in 1 turn (since I already spent a turn mining on this tile. After the guild, I'll start in on a worker to get my total worker force up to 4 (2 that I have, one each from Udenerat and Cevedes). 4 workers will let me throw out 1 turn farms and rapidly improve the terrain around my cities. More military units will not help me at this exact moment so I might as well build units which will help me pick myself back up off the floor faster.

Clean up more barbarian incursions. Goblin from the southern city is killed by an experienced warrior, I think it wins another level with that. I'll probably hold onto the promotion for now. Barbarian warrior from the south, and a lizardman from Tredje's hill. I see XP at this point, thanks to the cadre of experienced warriors at my disposal lol

I'm running Binary Science, so I've got screenshots at 100% and 0% research slider settings, Either +27BPT - 10GPT or +2BPT +26 GPT Loving the god king bonus to gold in the capital. I'm a fool and build the road first instead of the mine, alright, I'll get better at this, honest!

Workers on the hill finish the mine started so long ago. New worker from Udenarat finishes the road between Cevedes and Udenerat started in the ancient days when the feared wolf-rider still wandered the lands of the Amurites. lol

Cevedes starts on a worker, says it'll take 3 turns, but I'll chop the hill on my way to Udenerat with the 2 workers and speed it up by a turn (12 hammers), so it's only two turns. Who can say no to 2 turn workers? I know that I can't.

Move workers, chop forest, start in on mine. Cancel mining. Next turn, take the 4 workers and move to the hill just southwest of Udenerat. Tredje can't see them there. Move some number of warriors onto that same hill. Cookie for the person who figures out what happens on Turn 86.

Took Demographics pictures. We're hosed, but not in last place. alright
