Freaks also have the advantage of possibly spawning with some nice promos. If you got one with, say, light (+1 move, +10% withdrawal rate) and mobility I (+1 move), and then handed him the Orthus Axe (+1 strength, adds blitz) you'd have a rather nasty unit to play around with Freaks are expensive, but they're great to build if you don't have any other priorities. It's actually very fun to see what you'll end up with on them, and crappy freaks can become freak shows, which you'll eventually want in all your cities anyway.

Other point is that we want freak shows in every city, except in cities that ned to spawn specific GP (GS in capital, a GP if we want a shrine etc), so even the bad ones can be turned into something useful as Bob says, and we have a capital with a good amount of hpt for building them, and not much else to build (we're, what, 8 turns from a settler for city 4 when some players still haven't got a second city, got 2 workers, too much military due to lizards, and no wonders to build due to tech path/lack of animals).

Capital will go on Freak production after the next settler/worker combo. Next settler's due in 4 and 5 turns respectively.

Another super city. Actually, freak next in the capital is probably the right build. This city can grow to size 4 then pump workers for us.
City 4:
Notice the shock warrior with a barbarian warrior closing in. Yum, more free xp. Our highest xp unit is Zorn the lizardman with 14xp. What do we require for the Form?
City 5:
I like it as it's very close by and therefore easy to defend. It can work 3 riverside grassland farms + incense at size 4. Plenty good enough for me.

I believe Form of the Titan is 26 XPs, so you have quite a ways to go.

... and you have to take all of the promotions. Saving them for later and being unable to build the big metal man is one of the common noob mistakes.

Once you get HBR you can upgrade that nelly to a proper military unit that does count!

Normal elephants are actually higher strength than war elephants anyway, although they lack the extra movement and bonus vs. mounted, which could be nice vs. the Hippus. It's telling that FFH of all things actually nerfs the BTS war elephant to be like how it is in the RB Mod, heh.

No we don't, not right now...but we will need them after the next 2 settlers will complete (we'll build two more I think in cities 2 and 3) but right now we're just about to finish hooking up the cities with a minimal road network for when Orthus spawns.
