Would basically have to be an NTT, AI diplomacy (or AW) game on a huge map. Might even have no choice but to play on a map maker balanced Torusworld to ensure we had enough land. It would be a bit different from this game, what with having about 5 times the land area and even more distance between players...

I can volunteer to take the main map maker position when that game comes about; I'd rather lurk than play the next RBMod PB, and I've been rolling Torusland maps for the fun of it so I have been getting a pretty good idea of how it will look/need to be balanced.

Course this is likely still months in advance, depending on the time til PB8 finishes, but wanted to put it out there.

Thanks Brick, I'd appreciate that. You are right, it likely will be months before PB8 finishes provided the players don't just give up. In fact we should probably do an over/under on that topic in the lurker thread...

Adding support for more than 18 players should be easy. There are several mods doing it. Only little downside is that it affects to save format. This is just a minor annoyance since the WB changes are easy to edit in with text editor. Nevertheless I'm not sure having support for more than 18 players is really neescessary.

I would think that if there's that much interest, to just cap it at 18 for that game and make sure a game of that size ends up working logistically before trying to add more player support.

Yeah, it's not something that I wish to go and do, unless something like 25 regulars turn up and want to play in the next PB game. In which case a one off alteration might be worth considering, but I would prefer to just stick with 18 max.

I swear if I could just delete my cities this game would actually be more balanced for everyone else. Right now I'm stuck in the position that I have to go and make someone else lose just to have any relevance to the game, and that's not exactly a reasonable play. There are no targets that are "valid" if I were trying to win the game, as Kyan and Seven are too far away, and Serdoa has a front city on a hill, behind a three tile long, 1 tile wide isthmus covered in forest and jungles, with archers. Even if I built a stack of axes, I can't take the city, and once he pops borders (or puts a warrior at the end of the chokepoint on his side) he will see me coming 5 turns in advance. I can't win via religion, domination, conquest or SS, leaving Culture as the only potential VC, and all of my cities have to be coastal and front line cities.

Whatever happens, I expect someone to complain about my choices in game and say I gifted the win to someone. And they wouldn't be wrong...

Yeah I agree, you're pretty well done and screwed at ths point. bang Chalk up another score for always have the mapmaker work with the script to make it more balanced, even if its an awesomely done script like this one.

Oh, so when was that? Truth be told I never paid much attention to any games between PBEM17 and PB5.
