So..... not even one person interested in logging into the game to check out that offer? Apparently kjn and I are the only ones who actually log into the game with any frequency. Well, here's what WPC had to say:

These guys just refuse to use email for some reason. crazyeye Well, the real question is whether they want a fourth missionary, or if they are unaware of the third missionary that's moving next to their borders right now. If this deal is for the current missionary, then great! It's already about to move into their territory next turn. If they want yet another missionary (#4), then we're probably going to have to decline. We're swapping out of Organized Religion next turn, and we won't be returning to it for another 7t (i.e. nearly one month of real world time). We need clarification from them on this issue. I am not moving heaven and earth to get one more missionary to WPC when we've already sent them two and have a third one about to enter their territory.

Umm... have fun with these guys, scooter. They seem a bit crazy. lol

LOL at WPC. In defense of few people logging into the game, btw, it is modded with a mod that nobody else here ever uses (or, I'd imagine, really wants to use). I don't even have it downloaded.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

I think this is the only way we'll ever have an archer. I sorta like the idea of having an archer even though we will never research archery.

I think we can assume the archer is payment for the third missionary, though it never hurts to make sure.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

It could hurt to make sure if they decide to use it as an opportunity to squeeze a fourth Missionary smile.

Agree with darrell. I'd just say something like "Sure - sounds good. The missionary will be there next turn. Please gift the archer at <wherever we want it>"

We should definitely make sure. Or say something to the effect of, "yes, based upon our earlier discussion in chat, you offered to trade an archer for every missionary after the second. We have a third missionary on the way to you now, so we'd like a six experience archer with unspent promotions please. Please gift one at earliest opportunity - anywhere just inside our borders is fine. Thanks."

What is the advantage of "making sure" over acting like the Archer is for the third Missionary?

So that they don't start acting like we promised them a fourth missionary which we aren't going to build. Based upon their recent behavior, I'd say that's a distinct possibility. What is the disadvantage?
