Realistically...I only need 2 productive pop and I can produce 4 turns workers (with a lighthouse). That means I can keep 3 slavery unhappy on the roll constantly with no issues. Stacking slavery unhappiness is a legit tactic that not many people do, but it's because it needs a specific set of circumstances:
- Lots of food (or early granary) so you can regrow pop faster than you need for a 6 turns (or 10 turn on normal speed) whip cycle. I have the early granary, so early I think no one else even had pottery when I finished it and most still don't, so I can grow about a pop a turn (or at least 8 every 10 growing from size 2 to 4).
- Few good tiles to work (or no workers to improve them). Normally it's worth improving the tiles because they are, you know, quite productive, but I have hills and forest grassland rivers that requires too many upfront hammers in worker turns for too long a pay off time for these leader traits.
As it is I get a straight 40 hammers every time I slave. I need 1 turn to build a worker, and 1 turn to dump overflow. So from finishing the granary eot T25 (and slaving the settler T24), I am able to grow and slave out 4 pop by T33 for an additional worker and settler and still make 12 hammers overflow. That means carrying 2 whip unhappy but I get the ivory to alleviate a bit of that, and I still don't have anything to work at the capital any time soon.

Highlights of the last few turns:
Even if I wanted to build a galley, and float over a settler plus defenders...it's jungle, tundra and ice. Seriously, the map hates me.
Stacking slavery unhappiness in action...build the worker for 1 turn, means the unhappy labourer doesn't cost anything. T29 it got slaved, T30 overflow 28 hammers into a settler T31 grow to size 3, T32 potentially use a grass hill mine to finish a warrior (depends on if I need it) and grow to size 4 with no spare food, T33 slave settler. T34 option, if not built the grass hill mine, can time a forest chop to complete so overflow 34 hammers into another settler, to enable another double slaved settler on T38. With 2 workers and at best 3 warriors to guard 4 cities. Yeah...perhaps not.
Expectations for the future: Serdoa puts an archer on the hill. I move the warrior onto the forest hill. We both stare at each other mouthing silently we want to play a new game.
Boring MM for second city. Work the clam for 2 turns, and the copper for 3 turns once improved for a 5 turn work boat. The copper has to be given up for T35 at least to city 3 to one turn a work boat (2 hammer city plus 5 hammers copper plus forest chop equals 20 hammers). Maybe for another turn after that, for a 1 turn lighthouse or monument as well. All depends on what happens with tech. As you can see I saved gold for a run at religion, and here is why:
- Hunting is necessary for the ivory happy and spears, but I still need cheap warriors with my sheer lack of hammers via anything but slavery, so I don't want Hunting right now, it can wait maybe 10 turns.
- AH, I have no pasture resources, so whilst I would appreciate seeing horses and potentially having another 5 yield tile to hook, I will not be building chariots, nor do I really have the workers necessary to get horses hooked, so it can wait due to no strategic use of the tech. Knowing the location of horses cannot alter the city locations I'm considering, because whether I have horses or not is not relevant to me actually having a chance of performing well in this game.
- IW, why? I already have copper, and as much as I love to settle jungle...lol, just no.
- Writing, I have no use for an early academy with a capital that lacks cottages and long term is not a good cottage city (merely acceptable), and I do not plan on having the happy cap to support hte use of specialists there, so Writing can wait until I can build a library in 1footinthegrave. And AH to make it cheaper.
- Masonry, needed for GLH, but can be made cheaper by Mysticism.
- Mysticism, only remaining tech, means I can then go for religion, can pop borders at city 3 for a fresh water clam, and makes Masnry cheaper.
I think I can be first to a religion because the 3 CRE leaders are probably still researching Pottery looking at the GNP figures, and even then will not want to research Myst. Seven already has Myst but has a loathing of early religion. Serdoa might go for it though, and I don't know about Thoth with his possible Henge rush, he might just accept the early GPro and want to get a shrine for a religion. However, starting techs mean I think I still get there first due to working seafood for longer. OTOH, I have researched Sailing. Sometimes I wonder why I ever vary from rushing BW, pottery and then religion. So I research Myst, that should take 3 turns but I want to try and rig it so I spend more time researching Myst to overflow max beakers to limit my exposure to wasting beakers, so might take 4. Religion in second city means I can push against Serdoa, if I get it in third city I get a free freshwater clam to hook. Either works IMO, but religion in third city means I would quickly open up the two fresh water lakes to the north of 1FITG (second city) anyway so a lighthouse there is a very viable build in the second city whatever happens.
So...fuck it, I'm going for Buddhism, and even more slavery unhappiness in the capital.
Who cares about shit crop yield and MFG when you have a granary? Not me.

Got Buddhism in the third city, which means hooking up a fresh water clam rather than salt crab. Seven decided to wander into my land with a warrior so I 1 pop slaved an axe and will chase it away then go fuck with him with an axe/spear pair whilst trying to settle a fourth city to the east. Demographics are horrific as expected with no land based food but I'm keeping up in numbers of cities. Once I hook the ivory for a bit of extra happiness I will be fine until I can't grow the capital and 2 pop slave it any more without running into unhappiness. But until that time, demographics don't mean shit.

Seven settled a safe front city on a hill in what is perhaps the smartest position if he doesn't want to antagonise me. Unfortunately, I'm about to slave out my settler for city 4 and overflow so many hammers I'll get my third worker immediately afterwards, then I'll find out if I have horses. If I have horses I'm going to head straight to Archery and HBR and just try a 20 HA stack attack on Seven to wreck his game for no reason.

I'm going to win this meta-competition without resorting to that scum riddled cheating sub-spam-game.
Not that it makes me any less of a spammer.
Although If I were rego I could easily have turned this post into 3 separate posts.
