Stall and just politely say no. They can't cancel the deal without going to war for 10 turns. Do we need it longer than that?

Stall, pretty much. Just tell them we prefer to keep the deals separate but that we're happy to discuss terms after marble is provided.

Honestly though, I don't expect them to talk about nap extensions until t140+

No. Although it would be useful to have marble for a while, the Turn 130-140 window should be perfect to build Taj and National Epic. Other stuff (Hermitage for example) falls under "nice, but not necessary."

Well, given that we have grounds to cancel the luxury to them if they stop providing marble, I doubt they will cancel - that's the good thing of trading away luxuries; people become dependant on you.

Anyway, for the Taj we only need a few turns of marble, as long as we get a marble-fueled overflow we should have it locked anyway. Might be harder to hold the marble connected the entire time while we build the National Epic, though.

The main reason I was thinking about this, is because we plan to revolt to Nationhood after Liberalism and begin drafting right?

If so, our power numbers are going to spike like crazy, considering we are almost #1 in power already. I expect all of our neighbors to bug out when they see that. I know I would.

We're surely not revolting to Nationhood outside a GA, so at the earliest we'd do it when the TM completes. At that point we have the option of running NH during the GA and revolt back to Bureau at the end, or we could keep bureau and revolt to NH before the GA ends. Then we leave Nationhood during our two-man golden age, perhaps.

Heck, I can easily see us going on in Nationhood for quite some time. +1 happiness from Barracks, and we save at least 25gpt compared to Bureaucracy.

But now we're going pretty far from the diplo.

It's +2 happiness from barracks. Sulla is set on being in Nationhood for nearly the entire game after the Taj Golden Age is over.

I really doubt we'll have a ton of motivation to leave Nationhood for quite some time, though we're sort of straying out of diplo discussion on that topic.

As for what to do - yeah definitely stall. It's not too hard to wait a few days to respond, apologize profusely for life being busy, say we're discussing it as a team, say we'd prefer to keep deals separate, say we are waiting a little longer before signing any NAPs, etc etc. There's so many options. Geez, we could have somebody OTHER than me respond to them and say "hey our diplo guy is super busy right now so we're putting that stuff on hold, he'll write you guys back in a few days" which would be honest truth. Then remind them we're supplying them with happy, and why would we just give happiness to a team we want to attack?? innocent

Should be fun. They routinely would take a week or two to respond to our messages until recently. Normally they aren't exactly on their toes when it comes to quick responses.

The one thing I'd say is don't suddenly be different. The best approach would be to slide into inaction, not suddenly take forever to do anything.
