AT loves it when a plan comes together!! [Spoilers]

nothing has happened!! Azza didn't play till early this morning, and cornflakes has to play after and he wasn't able to play... so we won't get a turn roll till later tonight.

I didn't take a pic, but jowy and azza won't be meeting each other any time soon - jowy went north, azza went south. So, I should be able to trade alpha for iron working to azza, and sell alpha for something from cornflakes.. I hope alpha to 2metra for monarchy. Not that we really need monarchy for anything - though, we could bulb theology instead of shrining.

Which brings a question - in a tech brokering game, can you trade techs you bulb? A quick test with a singleplayer game seems to indicate you can.

Yes, bulbed techs are researched by you.

I have some pics I'll post in the am - time for sleep.

In short:

nothing interesting on the world stage, other than cornflakes making another tech trade (not sure what) and founding another city. Man's becoming a monster. He's got a higher GNP than us and I think it's mainly commerce, where we have a ton of culture. And we have his demos and his power is scary.

Also have some maps of azza's lands.

Another turn closer to alpha.

overview of the land:

Jowy;s scout is to the north, azza's is to the south.

Note cornflakes impi. Now, a couple of turns ago, cornflakes asked for OB with me and now he's here to scout me. I'm thinking I should close borders with him - I don't much like the idea of him looking me over since he's already started 2 wars and has a military that is 6 axes stronger than me. And, honestly, there's a large economic advantage to him and not so much to me to have OB with him, once he finds a route.

Thoughts?

I have his and Jowy's graphs now:

Here is Azza's land:

I think his 3rd city is where I indicated... it might be further up the lake. I'm hoping to figure out where cornflakes army is.

I was wrong about Azza's 3rd city - it's south of his cap, along the lake.

I notice that Azza really spread out his first cities - I think that probably helped lead to the conflict with cornflakes and made it hard for him to reinforce.

I got the furs improved just in time for The OC to gain a pop point and work 'em wink

With that and working more water tiles, i cut alpha from 3 more turns to 2, so that's good smile

Still haven't decided on whether to cut OB with cornflakes. that's a lot more power than me, though I now have a spear going to MASH to deal with HA/chariots.

Builds:

Settler in the cap in 6, unless I whip.
WB next turn in MASH, then 3 turns for a settler.
archer and growth in 2 turns in NYPDB Blue, then a settler, which I'll probably whip.
4 turns to growth in NCIS, though I'll get a chop soon and will probably whip the settler at that point.

So, 4 settlers in the next 6 turns or so. one to marble. The other three:

I have 5 sites I want to settle:

A block jowy site - he's not settling them.
Pigs
Fish/banana/ivory
Horse site on lake erie
Production site near MASH

I'm not sure that settling towards cornflakes is smart yet, but it's something I'm thinking about. If I can find his army, that will help the decision. He's made peace with Azza.

Hi Sorry AT, really want to comment, but too busy at work. I've been going back and forth on advising you on Cornflakes. Wrote up my reasons and then changed my mind.

I'm not too keen to settle north of Blue Lake either other than the production site. To be ready to take that area we need a bunch of workers to chop out those forests, and you've been delaying workers (for good reason). And of course, there's the need for military to secure our claim, so I don't think that we're ready.

I've been rethinking the Red Star vs Jowy Block 'B'. In the end, we can't hold that food without other culture supporting cities. So unless we're ready to plant cities north of Red star (and maybe south) its just not going to work out. I'm also leaning towards a tighter city grid for defensive reasons.

Suggestion:
- Jowy block 'B'
-If its still available down the road and we think we can hold it, plant on incense or 1 s of incense. That lake is pretty valuable to us.

I have 5 sites I want to settle:

A block jowy site - he's not settling them.
Pigs - agreed that this city is important to us. Fast growth + lots of lakes. It'll pay for itself and cost us nothing worker wise.
Fish/banana/ivory - low priority. Azza's not likely to take that spot from us given his predicament.
Horse site on lake erie - but of a stretch right now and we might lose it, but it'll keep our core safe from naval invasion. Yeah, let's go for it.
Production site near MASH - definately want it and soon. MASH is not safe right now. Maybe 1 W of the origintal spot to share pigs, but keep the rice. Less of a production site, but it'll grow quicker.

I was actually thinking about going 1E of the original spot - it gets a lake tile, plus is on a hill. It does need workers, though - to road to it and to improve the hills. In fact, most of the sites will require some workers, so I think workers and military after the settlers go out.

Next time, I'll show a better looksee at the site by M*A*S*H.

So, where to settle to make a city between MASH and Cornflakes?

I've got 5 sites that seem to have advantages:

A) The original site I put down as a production site. Get rice and a grass tile, both of which are next to a lake, the silk and a bunch of hills, and is coastal.
B) On a hill, gets a lake tile, loses 1 hill of productionm, doesnt' get silk.
C) loses 3 hills, gains ability to share pigs, easier to support from MASH.
D) On a hill, directly between me and cornflakes so is a better block, gets pigs, silk and rice.
E) Does not block A, B or C. Not on a hill. Has no actual food until I clear the jungle over the pig.

There's also the clamsilk site. I'm going to send that dog out towards cornflakes to see what's up. MASH is going to be building military after the settler.

I don't have a good idea which is the best. B is good, but a stretch on defense.

Here's my current thoughts on expansion.

We have 4 settlers coming in the next few turns.

We send them to:

Marble
Horse
"B" block
Pigs

This means we are making an expansion to our west, not both ways, which probably is safer.

While we are expanding west, MASH will build more military to support the expansion east - that will be a couple of cities east of MASH and probably the ivory site, as well. Quite possibly another city near horse to support it, since that's really a strategic site.
