New FFH2 PBEM?

18 hours is holding up turns. On average, you should be doing them within 24/n hours, with n being number of players. Imagine if everyone took 18hrs, in a 5 player game. That's 90 hours per turn!

Q, I got the save at 6:06 AM (not my fault- this is when Kragroth was finally able to send it). Less than 5 hours was NOT a reasonable amount of time to complete the turn.

The turn is now sent. Sorry this one came last of the night (I've been playing PBEM saves for the past 3-4 hours)- the requirement to re-load the game in FFH2 instead of EitB was an issue for my computer tonight, as for some reason it was running out of memory... (so, in case swapping over caused my computer to crash- which it very nearly did, with tons of error messages, I swapped over only after playing all my other saves- some of them more than 1 turn tonight due to quick turnaround...)

I got the save at 6 AM. I had a meeting early in the morning (7:30) after which I went about my day- which included a funeral and another long meeting in the evening. You guys have a talent for finally sending the save around when it's worst for me- if it had actually been sent last night, I could have played it and made time for another turn this afternoon as I would have *known* the save would be sitting in my inbox... As was, I had no idea I had received the save until late tonight, as you guys didn't send it to me at a reasonable time.

In summary, what I'm saying is it's your fault if you send the save at odd and unpredictable times if I can't turn it around quite as quickly (as in, this late afternoon rather than this evening- asking my to turn around a 6 AM save within 5-6 hours is NOT reasonable...) You can't blame me for your own actions and use it as an excuse to strip me of my sovereignty over my own turn (well, technically you could, but it would be incredibly wrong). Start reliably sending me the save at the correct times (instead of 6 AM) and I can start turning it around within the 4-5 hours you want...

Also, Old Lion finally stopped by one of my lurker threads. I'll start conferring with him about strategy because, while I'm not to blame for slow turnaround with the unpredictable and odd times I've been receiving the save from you guys lately, I'm about to start 2 new jobs next week (I already work one- soon I will be working 3 jobs as well as numerous other activities...) and it's possible it may not allow me to be as regular with the saves as I would like even if I get them at the right times. It's also possible I may actually become *more* regular with the saves due to changes in my typical schedule.

Either way it doesn't hurt to be prepared- so I'll see if Old Lion is somebody I feel comfortable handing off the save to now and then as a partner... I'm not just going to hand him, a complete stranger, my passwords, without learning anything about him first... Especially when the demands that I do so are based on unfair and illogical judgment (one more time- you CANNOT expect a 5 hour turnaround if you send me the save at 6 AM)

When is your play window? I admit I haven't checked, but I assume that it falls somewhere within the 18 hours that you had the turn. Mine certainly isn't after midnight in my time zone, which is when I posted that screenshot. (And yes, I only got four hours of sleep tonight. My schedule is also pretty crowded lately.)

This is incorrect. When Tasunke held up the turn for multiple days recently, I contacted him via Skype (and used considerably harsher language than I've posted here.) Tasunke is a friend and we have known each other for years, so I didn't feel the need to be diplomatic at all. So yes, I contacted him, and I didn't sugarcoat what I said either. He and I respect each other and I spoke to him in private.

It's a dire issue because you've been the person most responsible for delays so far. You deny this was true in the past, but it certainly seemed that you had it a disproportionate amount of the time whenever I'd check the tracker. I could check the history and tally things if you insist, but I'm working 70+ hour weeks right now and have far better things I can spend my remaining time on.

Either way, that's the past. Let's focus on now and the future. I'll be posting here whenever I notice an unreasonable delay. Please work with Old Lion to prevent this.

North,

Your self reported play window is 5 pm central to to 7 pm central . The save was sent to you, the tracker, and Old Lion at 6:06 am central time. 18 hours after that is 12:06 am central time. So, yes, you missed your play window.

Also, even if you have no data but have sms you can send emails. Read #1 at http://lifehacker.com/5506326/how-can-i-...xt-message

Thanks for the information. That's very useful, if what I want to do is send an e-mail... How would this help me post to these forums or play the save remotely though?

Alternatively, it would take me some work, but I *could* set up my phone to be able to text e-mail directly to you (without needing to remember long, complicated strings of operators) Kragroth- which could be useful if you then relayed my message to these forums...

This would allow me to notify if there's a delay- but wouldn't in itself fix that. I'm consulting with Old Lion to decide if I want to partner with him in these games, but what about the duels?

Yes, just text to the email addresses of your opponents if you think you'll have trouble making the turn.

If you want to post on the forums, you'll need data. If you want to play the game remotely you need to have data, pay a fee to splashtop, and instsll the program on your phone and computer. It's much slower to play your turn and email it back but can work for early or low activity turns.

OK, well I still don't have the save in my Inbox, and I've decided to go for a bike ride before it gets too dark.

Would love to have it siting in my e-mail when I get back. smile
