Soeaking of which, would you advocate reraising levies now or when troops get whittled down? These large country wars are not my strong suit

Troops are at about 50% of maximum right now, IIRC, maybe slightly more. Make sure that you disband in friendly territory if you do so; as long as our troops in the field are sufficient to win the battles that are happening, I wouldn't recommend disbanding and reraising, as it takes several months to get the troops to where they can disband and then reassemble them.

And "negative opinion" is very different from "active rebellion threat." I tend to ignore negative opinion until it reaches an active rebellion risk (which is a separate alert).

Oh yeah, we have 4 of those. I'll focus on the rebellion risks and try to placate them. Sadly I have no piety and you need 10 piety to imprison someone.

Honorable titles and gifts? $ is cheap, and honorable titles are free.

IIRC we only have 1 (good) honorary title to give out. I am 2 holdings over my demesne limit so that could potentially be used to give some happy thoughts. And if there is a good candidate for release from prison then that will also be used. I'll try to do it tonight and have a prelim report

Going over demesne limit is a pretty severe, persistent and universal penalty, as well as having extra ducal titles. I would generally rectify those issues before giving out money and honorary titles. Have you married? Your demesne limit will go up once you get spouse stats, so I wouldn't give out land before that.

When giving out counties I generally recommend creating new vassals (Check for unlanded males in your court, particularly ones that aren't likely to inherit other lands. If there aren't any then you can enact the decision to create a noble for cash.) over giving them to existing vassals, to avoid your vassals blobbing up and actually being a threat.

Can we fight off the HRE? I assume they're holy warring for a Duchy? If we have to surrender some of New France, so be it.

I'm tempted to try. Beja is on board but their armies have already been smashed. There are near 50k troops scattered about in stacks of 8k - 14k - which is what makes me think we have a chance. I have 13k raised right now, and those can take out the HRE stack of 7k in that province by Najera. I'm thinking take those guys out, then re-raise because there are an additional 15k available that are not in the field.

If we lose, it's only Toulouse. So that could be just worth letting go.
