[SPOILERS] Lurkerloos and map discussion

(January 30th, 2013, 17:48)Krill Wrote: Everything seems to be playing into Plako's favour. India have a pretty bad empire (crop yield is atrocious for a team that has not had to compete with anyone yet), Zulu have taken themselves out of the game, Commodore still needs to expand, Arabia might lose metal to barbs (horrendous luck that) and Serdoa doesn't have a solid bottleneck to go and grab iron.

Do you think Thoth's call for 20-30 builder turns of peace will be heeded. If so, hilarity.

I do believe Commodore will begin buildering on t112 when he sees Long John abandoned. He absolutely has a builder streak, and he'll finally show it here in PB8.

You heard it here first, folks.*

(If Serdoa tries hard to claim the southern iron, all bets are off. But Serdoa should be going after the iron city they lost to Lew. And That should happen as soon as Lew/Azza lock horns again.)

CFCJesterFool is planning to build Triremes in his western cities starting ~T111. This won't end well for the Zulu.
I have to run.

Zulu's plan is crazy. I get that it's fun for them, but it's rewarding Commodore way to much. His super aggressive tactics (whether necessary or not) should have put him way back even if successful but now he's gonna get a huge payoff in Zulu homeland for basically free. While it won't catapult him into first, it'll give him more benefit than he deserves for such an early war. I guess this is the one upside of Zulu never having built much infrastructure...

This confused me at first, as he has no way to attack commodore from the east, and it would be crazy foolish for him to go after CFC jester right now. ... I believe he is building a fort and will bring the galleys through the lake and canal, loaded with plenty of troops, to surprise commodore from the north.

Bigger - Sometimes if it looks like a dog, walks like a dog, and barks like a dog, then it is, actually, a dog. Albeit a somewhat mad dog. Still, India seems to have had enough trouble reacting to a few Barbarian Galleys, that the mere shock of a full-on invasion from someone those power they weren't even tracking, might just overwhelm them. That team's adherence to micro-plans may be telling.

Intriguing to see other teams' reactions to Serdoa's "terrible land"... I guess if you're stuck on a tiny peninsular, blocked in by your neighbors, then the opponent that has no close neighbors, and has happily built every other Wonder in the early game, probably looks to be in a good position. Regardless, Serdoa needs to make their aggressive eastern settlements work quickly, since both Xenu and Brick/Yuris appear to be eyeing up the land. That's a blessing for Merohoc, who might now get another go at settling the Iron denied to them by Barbarians.

Hmm was about to post this in Scooters thread after their last post:

"In EitB PB1, Ellimist had some connection issues and a gold mine got pillaged without orders being given. It's quite possible something similar may have happened here." was posted in responce to Scooters login post in tech. Rather than asking in that thread a lurker suggested they ask you directly if you wanted a reload.
But would I just be making it worse? This lurking lark is hard to nail down beyond the "dont post while drunk" rule.
I guess its not for me to clear up misunderstandings regarding motivation, and it might soon be cleared anyway once they can read freely.

I think that's a reasonable post to make, to explain why he asked the question.

The Battle of A7X has been all about the slightest of margins. Lewwyn/Bigger didn't have outrageous "unluck" in the rolls - at least not from the battles posted - but they didn't have any luck either. Getting greedy on a Worker steal prior to the main attack apparently used up what little redundancy Lewwyn/Bigger had brought along. The net result was that they couldn't hold the city once they captured it, and both sides have now traded astronomical (for the period) volumes of units achieving nothing except antagonizing the local population.

I'm surprised Azza is still holding it all together, since they appear to have the weaker economy. Sad that Azza has largely stopped reporting, and we're only hearing about this war from one side.
