Too bad for Krill, but I'm pretty sure someone is going to break no map trading rule sooner or later anyway.

Map trading is disabled in this game, according to the settings thread - determined that earlier when trying to figure out how the lurker civ would ever be able to see the islands. Now, sure, Whosit could have played differently and been in position to stop Krill's massive landgrab... but he didn't. Whosit might even have enough forces to really cripple CheaterHater here. And why did he go toward CH instead of the other way? Well there's this: (July 3rd, 2014, 17:07)Whosit Wrote: My original analysis of Cheater Hater said that he could be easily demoralized based on my readings of previous games. I am not sure if that intelligence still holds true, but if any weakness remains in his heart, I think the loss of two cities with such massive losses on his side is going to hurt his morale. Of course, even if he phones it in from now on, I'm still at the strategic disadvantage as explained above. Regardless, I've surely made a life enemy, but that's fine. Only one of us can survive, anyway. ...which seems to be proving correct with CH's rant in his thread. Of course, none of this would have happened if CheaterHater denied copper to Whosit, as he was completely able to do.
I hope you didn't actually think CH would improve substantially from 58.

Turn 90
dtay completes the Colossus - not particularly surprising since he Oracled Metal Casting. Still, a powerful wonder to add to his growing collection. Great Scientists born for BGN and GermanJojo. Things are not going well for Cheater Hater; another city of his was razed by Whosit. Also, I was wrong about wetbandit before - he had two cities razed by Qgqqqqq/Lexi, not just one.
Turn 91
dtay begins settling the over the channel to the west while pindicator is distracted with Barry. Whosit's Axe stack continues to advance into CheaterHater's lands. German Joey declares war on The Black Sword. From a brief chat with him while he was logged in, it seems this was a result of a settling dispute in the Cow/Wheat region. He's now asking TBS for peace. Furungy joins in and also attacks The Black Sword, apparently hitting an Archer/Settler stack with a roaming Quecha. He has Chariots coming in on Fort Tahn from the west but TBS has already got a Spear in the city. I doubt he'll make any headway there. Dhal makes peace with BGN, and BGN bulbs Philosophy - founding Taoism. (July 3rd, 2014, 21:12)NobleHelium Wrote: I hope you didn't actually think CH would improve substantially from 58. This is a good example of what I mean by saying criticism is an implicit personal attack. (I said that in werewolf when Jowy said to stop personal attacks but I pointed out why that wouldn't work.) I don't really believe in the term "personal attack." I say this because CH's personality prevents him from learning quickly. He basically learned nothing in 58 for most of the game (despite claiming that he had learned a lot) until people came out and gave him bullet points saying what he was doing wrong. Once things were put in such a clear fashion, he did better. I'm sure he's using those rules of thumb to play the game now but there will be far too much rigidity applied in following those rules, which will be highly detrimental as well. When left to himself he basically does not realize what he did wrong. At the end of the day, knowledge has to be realized by the person, not taught by others.

I'd like to defend CH here, but it's hard to do that when he's still building Hanging Gardens in a city thats about to get razed.
I should clarify what I said. What I mean is that I don't believe in the term "personal attack" as it's typically used. Any comment on a person (rather than his actions) is often considered to be a personal attack. But the actions cannot be divorced from the person. I often criticize people because I value competence first. It is my person that leads to my actions.
On the other hand, there can be comments that are completely nonsensical that also focus on the person, something akin to "you suck at Civ because you're ugly." Obviously those comments have no place anywhere.
