(+3 happiness for drafting an explorer ![]() @T-Hawk: Thank you for the detailed research into draftable units. Very well done and much appreciated! Based on T-Hawk's research, I think it is reasonable to go on the honor system. (I like competition, but I don't see a need to be a killjoy about it.) So: Rule clarification: For this event, drafted units count as "builds." If you draft, you can either 1) keep track of how many units you draft, or 2) use the "Current" + "Lost" counting system for conscriptable units (and upgrades). Option 2 is preferred if you do more than a handful of drafts. Quality Assurance: When the event closes, if you find that your total is reasonably close to someone else's, please doublecheck your numbers so we can get a fair tally.
ummm ... when isn't 'built' + 'draft' = 'current' + 'lost' in total? Sure, it misses the warrior / scout and settler that you start with but everyone has those. I suppose that I am saying that we should always use 'current' + 'lost'. It actually counts WB units too.

I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I can't let this go unanswered... ![]() Of the list of units, we can eliminate the following by lacking the resource: Swordsman, Axeman, Maceman, Spearman, Pikeman. On the tech side, all we need to draft an Explorer is Nationalism and Compass. Believe it or not, we can eliminate all other conscription possibilities by lacking the techs: Gunpowder for Musketman, Military Science for Grenadier, and Rifling for Riflemen and all later units. That leaves only Warrior, and Explorer should take precedence over it; they both have 1 for conscription priority but Explorer is listed first in the file. So it would appear that you can in fact draft an Explorer if you lack metal resources and all the other unit techs. ![]() T-hawk Wrote:1. Grenadier is priority 1 and Musketman is 4, so the latter should always be selected. (If you make Musketman obsolete by getting Rifling, then Rifleman will take precedence.) The same thing happens for Marine and Paratrooper, which are priority 1 and would always lose priority to Infantry or Rifleman. (Somehow this thread turned into Details of Drafting 101 - when drafting isn't even likely to be big in this game - why spend a build point on a half-experience unit? ![]() T-hawk Wrote:That's it. Hi all,
First time poster. I'll give my civ background in my report for this adventure but I just wanted to ask about declaring war. I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can't declare before 1000bc. Is that true for this and correspondingly to all adventure(s/epics)? Or was that some variant for something previous? Thanks in advance for helping me out! athlete4life10 Wrote:Hi all,Only for specific games where it is clearly stated. PS - Welcome! |
