Krill Wrote:We've currently exploring up the NE with Q1, and so far uncovered [u]zero[/i] food resources. I hope we find some soon, because otherwise that area is just a complete wasteland; we also found the northern edge of the map.
I think you've answered your own question here... you're at the northern edge of the map...

Yep, some screenshots of your surrounding area would be nice.

So, Sullla...the map isn't balanced then? wink

Doesn't look great in that strip of land, maybe you'll have to split the two-food site up and put a city 2E of the crabs (low priority) and another one to get the cows.

Two grass tiles with unimproved food or Flood Plains/Oasis plus the City center will work also.

You are also 'short-cutting' the coast (which is fine if the aim is to meet someone asap), and looking at the picture, there could still be some more workable seafood in the fog (considering how narrow is the land there).

True. If that were the case though, I'd call be tempted to call Sullla an idiot unless it was a rice and something else, ie too pretty bad food resources.

I did say originally that I hope to find some food soon; we do acknowledge that we have to explore more. I'm just amused and Sulllas' post (which I can't take seriously) that the north somehow doesn't deserve to have food.

What else have you scouted besides that strip of land at the north pole? Can you post a screenshot?

That's it; it's only turn 11, we aren't going to get a second Q until t25ish. If we die to a starting warrior, meh. We get to read the other threads. Basically the final plan was workers>WB on t6>finish worker>Q>Q (size 3)>workers>settler. We really screwed up on the starting techs, which is why it takes so long to get the settler out; Myst is as said before worthless and agri is only going to cheapen AH and pottery for a long time, as farming is a waste of worker turns; each hill mine is nominally a 5 yield tile due to traits, possibly 6 (due to rounding), the ele 4-5; a farm would only be 3, takes longer, and is only better when growing large...which isn't going to happen until we get the terrace at size 3...when we'll have atleast 3 workers, most likely 4.

Ring map? It'll be interesting to see how many of these connections each team has, anyway...

OK, fair enough. Your strategy seems to be revolved around maximising growth by settlers and workers.

Choosing growth instead of scouting units is not necessarily a bad strategy but I think you should reserve judgement on your start position until you scout your area properly.
