I don't care that much about the method, if I say what I REALLY want you will all bring out the flamethrowers smile I don't think the method is going to be terribly interesting, but I'm not opposed to it either.

The point of my suggestion is based on 2 ideas: there are 2 civs that get picked pretty much every game, India and Inca, and then a bunch of first tier leaders (Pacal, Willem, Sury is pretty common). Now, the rest of the teams can pick bad civs and leaders, but if we pick Inca and Pacal, we just made it that the teams went from a 2/5 to a 1/5 chance of getting one the really strong civs, and 3/5>2/5 of getting a really good leader. Theoretically, I see it as more likely that the good civs get banned rather than the good leaders, but there is more strategy to it than most people realise.

I will point out that I have not considered what happens if there is a set pick order for the second snake pick, and it is known prior to the first snake pick. It's probably worth considering what happens if this happens, or if 2 snake picks are run before a real snake pick happens.

I will trust your judgement on that one and back the proposal. It doesn't look like other teams are too keen on it, though. One question: Would the method be significantly changed if it's just a single round of double picks for bans? Ie. team 1 picks a leader and a civ, etc. Takes half the time that way.

The effect is that the teams that pick first do not react to what the later teams pick, and that the teams that go first can dictate what the pick looks like.

With 5 teams and a standard snake pick the picks go like PBEM17, but without some retard picking Lizzie on the way down (Darrell didn't understand the difficulties it gave and I wanted a challenge...). Depending on the map you might see an Agg Rome, but You will see Pacal, India, and Inca, and 90% chance of Willem and Sury. India usually goes before Inca, because India can go with any EXP leader, but Inca doesn't work with Sury, one of the 2 best EXP leaders.

Mostly agree with Krill, bolding my disagreements:

Diplomacy? - Full private
Always War? - No
Barbarians? - No
Spies? - No
Corporations? - No
Blockades? - How about allowing blockades with ships past a certain tech level?
War Elephants? - Khmer only
Tech Trading? - No

Nukes? - No
Map trading? - Always
Banned Wonders? SoZ

Pick method? I really like what SevenSpirits suggested, letting players pick only one of Inca, India, FIN and EXP. Add Khmer to that if Ballista Elephants are allowed.

Here are my thoughts:

Diplomacy? - Full private
Always War? - No
Barbarians? - Yes
Spies? - Allowed but no civic/religion missions - is the bug with counter espionage pbem only?!
Corporations? - No
Blockades? - No
War Elephants? - No
Tech Trading? - No
Nukes? - No
Map trading? - Always
Banned Wonders? - Only GLH if mapmaker deems it necessary - Maybe SoZ...

@ Krill - your points on the SoZ are pretty good and I envisage that there will likely be modern warfare in this game when the kill counts can start to really add up. The best alternative of not banning it is to just build it ourselves.
