Not a sign up but I echo the suggestion that people should talk amongst their friends and sign up as a team if they are interested. Looking forward to making snide comments about everyone's skill/choices/mothers in the lurker thread. smile

I was just commenting to TheHumanHydra yesterday that I've been thinking of wanting to join another game (other than the current Democracy 1 game that is currently going on), since I only have the one game I'm playing right now.
This is also something that intrigues me. I think I've probably only ever played maybe one or two teams games, and it's been years since I would have done so. As has been stated previously when I first joined the PB7 game, I'm a sorta vet. Played for many years various games, then took a 3-4 year hiatus, then restarted playing here with PB7.

So for this one I would plan to be the turnplayer for one of the Civs on a team, but would hope to recruit someone who is either a true vet to play the other Civ or for us to get at least on Vet dedlurker to help advise on important decisions.
The first of the big decisions, being leader/traits. I really suck at (and don't care to figure out) picking appropriate leater/trait combos. So someone willing to dedlurk to help us at least get that part (and hopefully continued input) set to a good combo, would be important for me signing up.

On an additional note, I'm getting married on August 10th. So putting it out there that for most of the month of August I will need a sub to play my turns, so we actually need at minimum a dedlurker for doing that if not having enough people joining the team for one of the members to do so. smile

HAK and I were just chatting - we'd like to sign up as the two turnplayers on a team. We would really like to have at least one veteran advising us, though. Thoth, you had expressed interest in dedlurking but not playing - would you like to join us? Edit: Lewwyn, I see you said something similar. We are also highly interested in any other veterans who might like to advise us.

A clarification: SevenSpirits, you had said you would like "no talking with other teams." Did you mean no written diplo, or no deals whatsoever (OB, trades, etc.)? I assume the former, but we wanted to clarify.

As for the rules, I like everything that's been proposed so far, though my personal preference (not speaking for HAK) would be to not have Always War. Definitely No Tech Trading, though I assume that's a given, and I look like a newb for saying it. Oh, and I would strongly prefer Quick speed; I think it makes for a far better multiplayer game.

quick speed really isn't needed for a pitboss, the turns generally go fast enough anyway.

I copy others and state my interest for this game and these interesting settings while stating couple of "buts". In this case they are that I'm not a vet and my hectic RL causes even the one game that I'm playing being too much.

Sorely, sorely tempted. Only problem is I know I will likely have a large chunk of time in April with very intermittent internet access. I'd be interested in being a turn player aside from that if someone is willing to be my backup.

Assuming I can find that, Warrior Knight, care to team up again? I'm nowhere near your timezone, but at least we have teamed before.

Also open to other suggestions in regards to teaming though, especially if we need to balance player skill or the like. Would probably prefer someone who is micro inclined as it's the part of the game I find least fun smile

Way too early, but had to chime in in regards to city gifting: maybe only allowed on the turn the city is founded? I can see a situation where you want one civ to build the settler but don't want to have to walk the settler all the way to the other civ's borders to gift it.

Also think we'll likely need to ban at least a couple wonders. Some wonders obviously get buffed in a team game and become arguably too powerful (although with only 2 civs per team they might not be as game breaking as they could be).

Bigger, have you played a pitboss here? The turns aren't any faster than a decent PBEM pace--1t per day.
