Turn 3
I finished the scout, and had to make a decision. Do I start a second scout? Begin a worker? Or build a monument to speed up culture? Pottery is 3 turns away, so I could do any of those things.
One question I had was if building a monument would affect when I take Legalism.
And apparently it does have a bad effect: if I were to build the monument and take Legalism before I had 5 cities built or access to amphitheaters, then I would pretty much not get a 4th free monument. The game would check the capital, notice that it couldn't give me a monument because I already had one, and it couldn't give me a amphitheater because I didn't have the tech, but it would still count the capital as one of my four first cities and never check it again for getting a free amphitheater. I considered building the monument anyway, but I had two other good choices.
I want to build a granary as soon as i'm able to in order to get food going. So I could half-build a worker and finish it after the granary, or I could build a scout first and then put 1 turn into a worker. The delay on the worker would be 2 turns for building a scout first, but then I would miss out on 12 scout-turns in exchange for 2 worker-turns. I decided the scout turns were more important, especially with the first-of bonuses of ancient ruins, city states, and natural wonders. Also, the worker could at best give me a 2f1h1g tile after finishing, not exactly a huge prize.
The scout that finished last turn I sent scouting to the northeast. The spear is heading west a few more turns, but it will need to swing back to cover the worker when it finishes. I think i have 5 more turns before I have to head back.
If you notice the score, Serdoa got an increase last turn. So he either grew to size 2 in three turns (+4fpt) or he got free population from a hut. I'm more likely to think it the first one. He did grow, though; demos confirm someone is at size 2.

Excellent question, and one I'm not entirely set on. I want to take advantage of my high production, but I can do that in a couple ways. I still need to find my nearest neighbors before I decide.
If I don't have a nearby neighbor then I may talk myself into an attempt at the Great Library. High production would make it tempting, but I'd need some worker techs first. Good news is i can skip Calendar in the near-term.
Tech path for Great Library:
AH -> Mining -> Masonry -> Writing, although I may swap Writing and Masonry
If I have a neighbor somewhat close, then I may beeline Wheel and chariot rush. Wheel also is nice because it would let me build a watermill in the capital for another +2 food. So tech would look something like:
AH -> Mining -> Archery -> Wheel
I'm not sure about a quick settler, but it might be able to work out, especially with the gems and wheat-on-a-flood-plains (a 4-food tile!) to my west.
