The more I look at this the more I think "Eww". 15 turn worker. I've already explained why I don't like the fish, and instead I'm considering just getting a settler at size 2, using a chop and 1 pop slave (together worth 80 hammers as IMP). No high hammer tile to make work boat first actually function. If I spent 3 turns finding a plains hill to settle on I wouldn't even lose any turns on development. It's not easy to split off the pig (forced 3 tile spacing) and the fish obviously can't be hooked in time for a super early settler. Nor is there a real choice about where to explore with the scout: it has to move 89 on the first turn if I want to check for other capital locations (can't justify moving away from the pig). The forests block almost all of the potential capital sites and scouting.
I don't think I can pick Boudica with this start, even though she is likely the most fun leader to play.

Well, I couldn't decide on the leader, so I asked Seven to choose the leader for me based on novelty. Seven noted that I'd played CHM last in PB5 so I should really disregard that and go with Genghis. So I did.

Possible openings for settling in place:
- Worker first, tech BW. EoT T13 BW complete, 2 base beakers overflow, EoT T14 worker complete.
- Warrior>Worker, tech BW. T8 work plains forest, grow to size 2, EoT T13 BW complete, 2 base beakers overflow, T14 revolt to slavery, T15 slave and EoT worker complete, 4 hammers overflow, 10 hammers invested into a warrior.
- Warrior>Settler, tech BW. T8 work plains forest, grow to size 2, EoT T14 BW complete, 5 base beakers overflow, T15 revolt to slavery, T16 slave and EoT settler complete, 5 hammers overflow, 10 hammers invested into a warrior. This is strictly superior to settler first.
These all suck. Very high likelihood I just move away looking for a capital site that has more than 1 worker improvable tile.

SE looks like it could hold some promise with non-forested tiles.

If the scout gets moved SE, it will uncover 5 tiles, 2 of which are adjacent to the pig and are statistically less likely to hold resources (and both are forested, which makes it even less likely). That leaves 3 tiles, 1 of which is forested.
If the scout is moved 89 onto the grass hill, it should uncover a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 tiles, of which any could have a resource, almost all of which would be workable if I settled on the hill (in addition to the pig). That is where the scout moves if I want to maximize the chances of uncovering a better capital location. If the scout uncovers nothing, I can still use that information to judge whether I should settle in place or move the settler 6 to scout first, and then re-evaluate prior to making the final move with the settler.

Seriously though, the line up for this game is intimidating. Serdoa and Thoth were basically running away with different aspects of PBEM50 (Seven was there as well but the warfare that was about to happen was going to clarify the situation quite well). novice is...novice, master of sandboxes and micromanagement and he is teamed with Plako, also known as Mr. Immovable Object. Commodore doesn't know how to not rush things and is starting about 12 tiles away from about 4 different people so can wreck anyone's game including my own, and he generally doesn't begin to fall behind until around Rifling and I don't think this game even reaches that tech point, it should be won before then so I doubt his weaknesses even matter. And Pindicator and scooter are perhaps some of the best contenders for defining where the "potential game winners" line starts in most games.

This is one of those things that sounds like a compliment in context but after thinking about it, I believe you just said "these guys are really close to being out of contention from the start in any game they play". Dunno if you meant it like that.
Anyway since I'm picking apart your wording, I'll add that I put Pindicator and Scooter as "always a contender to win, regardless of opponents".

...yeah, I think I'll buy that rewrite. And they both have the only PRO leaders in the game.

I don't think I have anything more to do now until the game gets hosted and the first turn roles around. I doubt that'll happen in hte next 3 hours so I'm not likely to play the turn until tomorrow evening.
So until then, time to chill.
