Gavagai and the gods of underground

I will make a screenshot of demos next time I got to PC. I'm sixth in GNP (much below average, was dead last before I hired my first two rep. scientists this turn), fourth in mfg (a little bit above average), fourth in food (a little bit below average). However, my food is 134 and rival best is 193 (?) I think that rival best is either Retep or Gawdzak. Really, I wouldn't be much worried, if Gawdzak wasn't my immediate neighbor.

I unloaded the warrior on top of the worker without DOW and offered Barteq open borders (which he earlier refused to give me). I hope, he would understand the hint...

Also, made contact with Azza. He has Icense connected already and yet somehow dead-last in score.

I think I will spend my meager GNP on researching Literature and will rush TGL with my GE. Also, I want to build the Statue of Zeus: I need to scramble all the means available to deter Gawdzak knight-rush.

I have a good city for Heroic Epic but no unit to build it. And also I don't have reasonable means to obtain such a unit: it looks like our subcontinent is already alomost fully settled or at least fogbusted. I moved a 6xp axe into one of the rare wild areas left, nurturing the hope to find some barbs - and immediately ran into Gawdzak's chariot. I don't yet now if he spared it (I think he did) but it looks like my axe will have to go home anyway.

Gawdzak landed a very late Confu and whipped Courthouses in almost all his cities. A very strong play on his part - not only because of economy bonus but also because he is going to build up a ridiculous EP advantage over both of his neighbors just by about Cataphracts age. I think, he is going to have an excellent visibility over me and I will have to run EP-slider to deny it to him.
For now I switched all my EP spending against him but not sure if it will be even noticable.

...I got a Great Scientist at less than 5% odds. Actually, I was afraid of this and didn't want to run scientists before Engineer is out. But risk seemed so low and beakers were so badly needed... With Marble TGL would require about 11 turns to build, probably too much...

Really, really disappointing. Hate when RNG bites so badly, but it was my own fault.
