Used the reload as an opportunity to flesh my civ out a bit:
Ignore the password punctuation.
Otherwise played turn same as last time, as we all should.
Future city names:
* Kimchi
* Bulgogi
* D-War
* Story Seller
* Linda Park
* TVXQ
* PSY
* Lotte (technically Japanese, with a heavy Korean presence)
* Cheap Electronics
Kind of a grab-bag :P I actually don't consume that much Korean stuff, food, media or otherwise. I do love me some Kimchi tho.

Yeah, I suppose this counts as "cramped". I guess I should have sent my scout off in some random direction too, instead of trying to find city sites around the capital... now I'll never get circumnav ;____ ;
A voice in the back my head keeps screaming "rush him with skirms!", but I know it's a terrible idea. Probably.

Isn't this a toroidal-wrap map?

Ah, I guess so? Can't remember. I'm fairly sure people have managed to circumnavigate on toroidal with their starting scout- can you do it by going across the world in a diagonal?

Done enough scouting to come up with an initial stab at a dotmap:
I can't say I'm particularly happy with it, especially those wasted tiles in the center. I could claim most of them by moving the southern corn city 1N, but then I'd miss out on the clam. Idk, maybe copper will change things. My prerogative was to avoid wasting riverside grassland tiles as best as possible. Also an issue: some of the cities won't have any food before a border pop, which is obviously suboptimal.
Rival best food is 9 to my 8, despite everyone only having 1 pop, suggesting that the starting resources are in fact not mirrored.

It's a small world after all:
Got a little lucky with the scout, who survived both a lion and wolf attack in the same turn, without taking much damage.
I don't have any micro plan, but I guess things are coming together relatively well. Ivory camp / work boat / growth to size 3 / research BW should all occur on the same turn (I think, might grow a turn earlier). Then I'll chop a second worker, build a couple warriors, and get to settling. Not going to bother with any wonders, marble and stone be damned. With a map this tight I want the Skirm + Settler wonder instead.

Hey Bob, was it you that made the player analysys from PB18 as Barry Lyndon? I laughed a lot at some of the quotes and the one about me was really spot on.

Yes, they were really creative and amusing (and perceptive). Not sure if I already asked you this, but do you do any sort of creative work? Like writing or something. You definetely have the talent to do so, in my opinion. And if you do, I'd like to take a look.
